<p>This thread made me want to cry a little. It's sad to see one our "babies" get injured. I hope you are able to repair it by hand. I am curious what the outcome will be!</p>

<p>I just noticed this thread now. My 7D got this error ( and it was brand spanking new.. only 4 weeks out of the box ) it DOES mean a mirror lock up.. so it means your mirror is either locked in the up or down position there is no way around this besides sending it in to have it fixed which will take 6-8 weeks. I was very fortunate that Henry's replaced mine with another brand new 7D as we pointed out the wait time for it to be fixed would be double the time I've actually had the bloody thing! <br>

I'd definitely bring it to wherever you purchased it with the warranty and since you've only had the thing for ONE week maybe you will have the same luck I had and they will switch it out.. cuz really that's a lot of $$ to fork out to have it not work!<br>

On a side note my 2nd 7D works perfectly and I've had 0 issues with it.</p>

<p>I agree with this statement haha I am just really starting out this year so I have a lot of areas to improve on. Tho having cash <em>would</em> make it easier to expand on .. equipment wise at least !</p>

<p>Robert how did you word it when you brought it up to her? I am a female ( and by the looks of it not many females have responded to your very real question ) Your GF needs to come to understand that photography is an art and it celebrates beauty in all forms. It is your duty to gently express that while you love doing boudoir photos as it fulfills the needs of artist side of you that it doesn't cast a shadow upon the beauty you see in her everyday. That you are only seeing these women as art and your GF is the only thing that attracts you beyond the art to actually caress the canvas.<br>

If she cannot grasp that and come to an understanding that's okay.. but it just mean that you two cannot be together without one or the other giving something up. As in all things in life it comes down to choices. What can you live with and still be happy?</p>

<p>Thank you very much for the welcome guys :) I have spent a fair bit of time last month or so roaming the site so I figured it was high time to introduce myself and start adding pictures for hopefully helpful critiques. </p>

<p>So my penguins directed me over to this site and it's amazing how technology is even offered to us that live in Igloos. Okay I lie no penguins and I definitely do not live in an igloo ( we do not get the right type of snow where I am in Canada.. but that would make a good picture! ) <br>

I have not uploaded any pictures to this site yet beyond my profile picture. I should do that. I am a beginner in photography. I've been invested in art all of my life in one form or another. This form of art is now an obsession and just feels right. This site has been immensely helpful in regards to being able to study pictures, getting advice in all aspects of photography and it's even helped me learn more about cameras themselves with the reviews ( or opinions whichever wording works best )! <br>

As of this moment I currently am a proud owner of the Canon EOS 7D ( listens to all the boos and hisses from the Nikon corner ) with two lenses the EF 50mm f1.4 and Ef-s 17-55mm f2.8. I am hoping to add a macro and a tele-zoom lens to my bag over the course of the upcoming year ( and hopefully L lenses if my pocket book can handle it ). My favourite subjects at the moment of course are my two daughters.. whom are either going to love the camera or hate it as they get older lol... but it does give me a valid reason to say " I just want to shoot you" without getting into trouble. <br>

<p>Go out and buy or check out of the library, Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. It's a must have. This book explains apertures, ISO, reading the light meter, and shutter speeds in a way that makes sense and doesn't feel like you're reading a text book and or manual! It's not something that can be throughly explained in one paragraph. </p>
