Pearls Airport was Grenada's first international airport, but became
disused in1984.
All that remains today is an old Cuban airways plane and a Russian
crop-duster, some derelict buildings and a population of grazing goats.

I dispair with the whole rating thing on PN Tim - this photo is a case in point. 5.2? Seriously? Great photo - very orginal composition. I like the new ones as well in your portfolio, but this one really caught my eye.

Ziad - congratulations, a great image. Ive just started exploring macro photography and am therefore looking for some tips. I took a picture of an ant recently with my Nikon 105 2.8 and it was rubbish compared to this (you can see my awful attempt in the "very new" folder on my page). Yours is fantastically sharp and just a very professional picture; do you use a flash? Tripod? What sort of settings are you using? You look like you have processed it, but the original image must have been great. Many thanks for any advice you can give me.
Regards,
Nigel.

Walter - thank you. It was taken at c.1250th @ F4 and c. ISO of1000 with a D3s and a 400 F2.8 on a tripod. The bird was visiting a feeder c. 10ft from where I was standing and the image was cropped by around 50%.

Phil,
Thank you for the compliments on this and others in my collection - I invested in a new piece of lens recently; this and the discovery of a hummingbird garden in Trinidad has provided me with much material and some easy captures...
Many thanks,
Nigel.

Thanks Peter, for this and your other comments on this Album. I agree, I missed the stump and was gutted afterwards. It was a cricket fesitival in Trinidad last weekend - Lara X1, Ganga XI, T&T and Jamaica. You are right Lara has put on the pounds (very recently) - has obviously decided that his serious playing days are done. All good fun. I was interested by your comment regarding Cricinfo - can you submit pictures to it?
BTW, I took a tour of your collection. Very impressed with all your Lords shots - a lesson in looking for the really interesting shots - they are not always in the middle....
Thanks again,
Nigel.

Scott,
The snail was about 6 inches long and it was taken with a Nikon 14mm at F22. So as you rightly point out - a big combination for such a shot. I like my 14-24 more and more - how else do you make a snail look dramatic?
Thanks for your comment,
Nigel.
