1.
Go with the 300mmf4 with the nikon 1.4 TC. This in my opinion is the sharpest lens out of the 80-400 and the sigmas. I did all the same research you are doing andI also owned the 80-400.Read the review on photozone in regards to the nikon 80-400. The 300mm f4 is the best.

 2.
Remember your in his backyard. You dont want to take on a bear even with pepper sparay. The gear is insured so consider your self lucky that you were able to get out of there. Before you really pissed him off.

 3.
I do not remember if I already put up this post. So here goes. I have been dealing with this problem since last november.I have a nikon D-300 with nikon batteries in the camera and MB-D10. I shoot alot at the zoo. I use a nikon 80-400mm lens. After about 150 photos or so I was getting a false low battery indicator. I turn the camera off and back on again and the batteries read full. It started happening throughout the day. So I switched out lenses with my 50mm 1.4 took another 300 photos and had no problems.I also removed the MB-D10 pack inbetween to see if that was the problem and it was not.The lens is under warranty so my camera store sent it to nikon for repair. I went out and used my nikon 300f4 with 1.4TC and took about 1000 photos and no battery issues. When my lens returned I went out again with my 80-400 and at about 75-100 photos I got a false low battery indicator. Turn the camera off and back on and it clears. I tried a couple more times and it kept happening. I removed the 80-400mm lens and put my 80-200 2.8 nikon on and finished out the day shooting another 1000 photos total.Took the lens back to my camera store and they sent it back to nikon. This lens went back to nikon 3 times after the 3rd trip about a week after they have it nikon called my camera store and wanted me to contact the nikon rep. I called him explaining what was happening. Another week is approcaching and the lens is back at my camera store. Nikon said nothing is wrong and its may camera.I dont think they will look at it again so the warranty is only so good. While I waited for the lens to return the final time I borrowed my buddies nikon 80-400 mm lens and he and I went to the zoo. I shot 645 photos with no battery issues. I think that after 3 times at nikon something else should of been done. I did everything to isolate the problem and I believe its the lens. Has anyone heard of this happening?

 4.
If I was sure film was going to be here for several more years. I would definitly consider a F6. I also believe they still shoot more film then digital overseas so I think mabey a F7 is on the way. If the F6 was not selling would nikon keep it in the lineup.Bothe formats have ther props and cons. I would like the option of shooting either. It would also be easier if the price of the F6 came down a little.I purchased a D700 late fall last year. It is still in the box and have not used it yet. Since I purchased it the price has came down 500.00. The F6 is still the same price since it came out

 5.
I have a couple dum suggestions. Keep in mind I am not a working pro and I only photographed a family wedding. But, I myself would rent a full frame camera and set up a mock wedding at a church and practice and see how they come out. I during this session would use my D-300 with the flash on a off camera bracket with a diffuser so the light does not flatten the subjects. I would set up a tripod on wheels and and as they walk down the aisle I can from specific locations use the 2.8 lens get the shots and move out of the way fast enough not to interupt the ceremony. I think with the 2.8 zoom I may be able to set up the tripod on wheels at the alter and shoot from that location at various zoom settings. Like I said I am not a pro so these are what I would try to do to solve the problem.A secons shooter can assist with the mobile tripod if necessary

 6.
I am not in the photography business but I am in business. The cost of doing business has gone up each year. In addition to office overhead fuel and insurance there are other factors that a person who is not in business does not realize. In my area price is the driving force right now. If they get the cheapest price and do not get the quality they expected then they are upset. Old saying, You get what you pay for and my favorite There is no free lunch. Customers need to wake up and smell the coffee.

 7.
I did contact nikon about a F5 manuel. I believe they contacted someone in japan. Whichever way they did it the F5 manuel is now on the download list.Anyone needing one can get it there.
Thanks so much for all who helped.

 8.
Does anyone have an idea where I can download the instruction manuel for the Nikon F5. I purchased a used F5 and could really use some instructions.

Thank You in advance for all your help.

 9.
Does anyone know if there are any photographic guides to Vermont. I have made several trips but everything is so spread out without a definite gameplan a lot of time is wasted driving around. Which is not bad either but I dont want to miss anything that is really worth seeing.

Thank You

 10.
The judge should of tossed it out as soon as it arrived. Now, as business people we have to load up on insurance and carry as much as we can afford. We also have to charge more for our services. So we all pay for this kind of stuff in the long end.If a mistake was made by the photographer it should of been brought to the surface much much snooner.Throw it out and dont waste more money

 11.
Ok so now I will look into the 105mm 2.8 Handholding is a definite plus but in turn I would lose the working distance.Time for more research.

Thank You again to all who offer some advise.
