what's my Nikons hotshoe ? Lol. And most of my problems are when I am setting up deliberate portrait-style shots.

I am an amateur photographer that takes a lot of pictures inside. I always get shadows behind everyones heads. I was going to

purchase some basic lighting equipment and I am not sure what to get. I was looking at a 1 monolight kit that includes :

100watt/second Monolight a 24/24 soft box a sync Cord a light stand and an impact 8' air cushioned Black light stand. I am not even

surenwhat most of this stuff is. Lol I also wanted to get a collapsible reflector but am not sure what color is best for indoor shots?

Translucent, white/silver, soft gold/white, or gold/silver. Should I get these items or can someone recommend something else that

won't cost me a lot of money. My camera is a Nikon D-80. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you ! April
