1.
I am looking for a simple external flash unit for my Canon Rebel Xsi. I want to use it to take photos in a concert venue environment. I am looking for something that is not too complicated or terribly expensive and not real heavy either. I would like to find one for less than $200 but am flexible. I have read that the Sigma EF500 would work with the xsi. Are there other non-dedicated flash units that would work as well or is it just better to go with Canon?

 2.
I just got into photography about 3 months ago and I would like to upgrade my lens. I have a Canon Digitial Rebel Xsi with the 18-55mm kit lens. I am currently living in New Mexico and shooting mostly landscapes but I have found that I would like to take more close up shots. And I am moving to Tennessee where I will be shooting a lot in the woods focusing on wildflowers and also trying to create some abstract images with bokeh (I am new to this term). So, the lens needs to be able to handle low light conditions and macro situations. I will also be taking landscape photos there and I would like to know if it would be best to get a lens that will cover this kind of range or if it is best to get two separate lenses. I do plan to get a full frame camera, eventually. Thank you all for your advice!

 3.
Thanks William! Yes, I think you are right about being able to emphasize it more if I crop some more sky off of the right. However, there is something about this composition that is appealing to me. From this perspective, it looks like that piece of wood or root is about to get up and start walking, like Tolkein's Ent. At least that is what it looks like to me! :-) And I definitely did not see that when I took the shot so that has been kind of fascinating to look at after the fact. I will play around with the cropping though and see what happens. Thank you again for your suggestion.

 4.
I have just recently gotten into photography in the past few months. I did take an introductory digital photography class last year and that is what started it for me. In February I bought a Canon Rebel Xsi with the 18-55mm kit lens. Since then I have been out on many hikes around New Mexico taking landscape photos. I am having a great time with it. But I am also wanting to improve my shots and that is why I am here on the photo.net. I want to take clearer, crisper images. I know I am somewhat limited with the camera and the lens that I have currently but I want to get to know the equipment that I have well before I add more to my collection. I am adding an image that I took in some badlands recently to this post. I am looking forward to interacting with you all!

00YZOU-348439584.jpg.9c55ad2f01fa2cdaffe3d0e5af11072d.jpg

 5.
This is my first photo posting on Photo.net. I recently got into photography over the past few months. I bought a Canon Rebel Xsi with the kit lens. I really love taking photos and trying to figure out how to improve the quality of my shots. Constructive criticism is very welcome! :-)
Here are the specs:
f/5.6, 1/250, ISO 100, 48mm focal length

00YZ9V-348203584.jpg.52b923d0b9ad641a18c0e6f87f1ddb9f.jpg

 6.
I am finding that my JPG images are undersaturated when viewed in Slideshow mode on Zenfolio. I converted my images to sRGB and have embedded the color profile and have done everything I can think of to solve the problem. The images look fine in Gallery mode. Any suggestions?

 7.
I am new to photography and recently bought a Canon Rebel Xsi with the kit lens, 18-55mm lens. I am doing a lot of hiking in New Mexico and taking lots of landscape photos. I would like to find a decent tripod to take into the field with me for this purpose. I am 5'4" and weigh 120 lbs., so I don't want anything too heavy and cumbersome. I would also like to spend less than $150. I would love some suggestions! Thank you!
