  1. Very, very nice. The isolated components, cropped, elemental, in deep shadow. The minimal, direct title all add up to a work that has a hidden sense of purpose. Its subtle mystery opens up a poetic space in the viewer

    Thank you

Yes the ambient light circles are quite miraculous, particuarly since they seem to be hovering above such dispair. I would try to emphasize that effect in post, making the boy and area a litttle darker and the 'orbs' of light more prominent.

For me this shot lacks everything that JR004 had. Theres no mystery here, just a model and an applied effect . Theres nothing for the viewer to engage with.

Theres someting fresh and authentic about this shot. You've caught an indefinable moment which also is quite intimate, there is a trace of unsureness or even aprehension in her face. Also the vanity mirror provides a kind of abstract narrative which is satisfyingly illusive.

    Good.

    The mistress

The theartricality in this image is too 'am-dram' to really take me anywhere. The props are too obviously props, the woman is too obviously acting, the whole thing is just too set up and self conciously stagey. I suppose all that can be quite intresting if the image and narrative are right ( thinking for instance of Gregory Crewdson) but here it lacks ambition and aspires more to be an episode in a soap opera than someting that actually touches me.

I rather like this image, the shapes of the cows are visually pleasing and nicely composed. Also you have captured a particular kind of 'cowness' in them looking inquisitive with their raised ears. They also look kind of monumental looming over that edge.
The colours I have mixed feelings about, those beautiful browns standing out against the slightly moody sky definitely add to the image but if this shot were mine I would tweak the saturation down a little.
The grass is a little too zingy ( green is often the first tell tale with over saturation) and beautiful as those browns are they are reacting with the green and are a little too intense themselves. Its a difficult call but given that when the subject of the photograph is nature itself I think it doubly important to keep colours as natural as possible just to make a consistent and coherent image.
