1.
Hi Folks,
I have been looking into finally having DVDrs pre-printed with my logo/name...has anyone had great success with one company or another out there and liked the quality and price? I would also like to pre-print the sleeves...? I would be looking for a qty of 100-200 to start.
Many thanks in advance,
2.
Hi Mark,
Unfortunately since I didn't realize this would be an issue back then I have since moved/deleted and or lost many of the original files and can't point LR to them :(
I keep the "finals" because I am so worried about losing the originals (by moving etc) sometime in the future which would make it impossible to regenerate...I use Iphoto because I generally delete around 100-150 images right off the bat (I shoot events etc) so I didnt see the need to even import them to LR.
I guess my main question is that if you import your images directly into LR, where do you store the originals? Or are they actually stored in LR? I'm sure I have the most inefficient workflow ever so just hoping to get some advice.
Thank you!
3.
Hi to all of you out there!
I'm having an issue with Lightroom, many of my files from previous shoots (before I started getting paid clients) show a message as "unable to be located", I know this is a result of my having moved the original file (before I knew that would effect things later down the line I did this to clear up space/memory and now regret it like crazy)...but its been so long I don't know the path I used to move the files and/or if they were lost when my hard drive crashed (before I began regularly backing up)....
I used to:
1) Upload into IPhoto & do pre-selects/deleting of obviously unusable images
2) Export the rest to a "Client Name-Unedited" folder
3) Create a new Lightroom catalog & import those images from the folder
4) Edit in Lightroom & CS
5) Export finished images to separate folder as "finals"
Anyway I was wondering if anyone out there can clarify for me how you upload...do you upload directly into Lightroom or do something similar? I am worried I am rapidly eating up memory on my computer with the large files being doubled up (unedited then the edited ones) but I can't delete the unedited or else Lightroom can't "find" the file for me later if I ever need it for something.
ANY help is much appreciated!

 4.
This thread has completely given me the confidence to go out and get the 5Dii, I am very thankful for all of your responses, especially the ones who made mention that the 1D is truly more of a Sports action camera as I guess I knew that but always wondered if people out there who have these amazing crisp images in really low light are just upping the anty and using something like that :)
I agree that for the type of pictures I take, the Mark is probably perfect and now I'm SO excited its all I can think about...now my biggest problem is going to be finding one in stock! It looks like most places are backordered online (as I'm in the Philippines I wont buy it here due to the significant mark up) or wait until I'm in the states again in August...
Again, thank you for taking the time to share your expertise! Very much appreciated!
5.
Hi out there to all of you wise souls living in Professional Land! I am hoping one of you more experienced folks can give me a clearer vision of what's the best move for a camera upgrade that I am hoping to do within the next few months. I will preface this with the acknowledgement that I am relatively hopeless with a few of the modes/inner workings of my cameras and I shoot completely manual in auto white balance. I do not use video and don't expect to in the future. I've read all recent forums on here that are related but don't see one that compares (at least when I searched posts are very old 2009 etc) so apologies if this is a repeat.
Currently I am using a 50D with 85 1.8/ 50 1.4/ 24-70 2.8/ 28-135 3.5 and I have a 580EXII. I have been working for profit for a while so know its time to have a second body (which the 50d will become). I do portraits and sometimes events (parties etc) and have done a few weddings which I hope to do more of in the future.
My biggest concern is the noise and the ISO limitations with my current body as lately I have become more and more anxious when I see the amount of noise in my images (assuming exposure is correct and best in the conditions) esp when shooting indoors without flash (in low light) which I often have to do to capture moments with families in their homes (even a diffused flash distracts from this and my preferred style). The ISO on my current body is only 3200 which I know is greatly improved even on the 60D but I am ready to invest in a professional grade body. I have a budget of about $4000-4200 Max.
SOooo my question is...considering my uses, should I purchase the 5d Mark ii (a new one, I live in Manila and cannot find many used bodies that I would trust) or hold out and go for a 1d Mark iv (which would be another $400 from my max)? ***also a rumor about the Mark iii caught my attention...any thoughts on the potential cost of that?
Can anyone give me words of encouragement either way, I'd love hear your thoughts so I can gain the confidence to bite the bullet and upgrade! THANK YOU in advance for your words of wisdom!
6.
Hi Folks!
Can you please be so kind as to share your recommendations for a proofing site? I am interested in some of the following features:
-Ability to upload many images at once
-Individual & password protected album/links (that can be personalized idealy)
-Slideshow capabilities (that can be linked via social networking sites i.e. facebook)
-Watermarking (if not I can do this during PP but would like it)
-NO fees for individual albums etc (since I wont be printing thru them & I know some sites like to make xtra this way)...
Maybe some of you use Zenfolio, SmugMug etc? Can you give me your pro/cons on these? Anything you wish you had known about these prior to joining?
While potentially very helpful in the future, currently I don't need the ability for my clients to ORDER (and/or purchase their actual prints) off of this as I am currently living in the Philippines and doubt both the willingness of these studios to ship here, and probably most importantly, the ability to receive these packages here...our mail tends to be a lil on the corrupt side and I don't want to have to bribe customs officials every time I get the prints :)

Any and all suggestions are much appreciated!!
Best,
7.
Hi All,
I apologize if this is not the best location for my question as I am not a 'beginner' photographer, but posted here because my knowledge of external flashes & equipment etc is very basic.
.
I am starting to invest more in lighting equipment as I'm doing more and more things indoors, and am struggling to figure out what is a good next buy. I live in the Philippines and its hard to 'rent' equipment to try out different flashes and things as I would normally do before purchasing...so I am turning to your very welcome expertise for help!
.
I currently have a Canon 50D, 85mm 1.8, 50mm 1.4 & 28-135mm lenses and a Bower speedlite (which unfortunately is for Nikon - my previous brand of dslr camera which broke)
.
I mostly do child & portrait work, but am doing more 'events' indoors, though those are more social photos as opposed to weddings. My question is, I am thinking about investing in the 580 EXII, a Ringflash (maybe) and/or a PocketWizard...though as I can't experiment with them am unsure if I need one or all of these.
Eventually I'd like to build up a small home studio with portable softbox/umbrella etc...but can wait for these.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
8.
You guys are great, I really appreciate your taking the time to answer me. I decided against it and will put that cash towards the 24-70 I've also been eyeing, and updating my camera as soon as possible :)
Thanks for the advice!!
9.
Hi All (more experienced & graciously willing to help...) :)
I hope you won't mind my asking for quick advice, I have the chance to purchase the below package from a Photographer friend, and am not well enough versed in lighting equipment to understand the value of some of these, I know the lenses are in good quality & clean, but was wondering if you would pay $1500 for whole package below? (I don't have any of this equipment currently) I have a Canon 50D, 85mm, 50m 1.4 & 28-135mm now) .....ANY help, again, is very much appreciated!!
10.
Hi Marissa,
I've just purchased ProPhotoBlogs, most ppl use it just for their blog, but i use it for my whole site for now and in lieu of paying a webdesigner or using my old iWeb or simple wordpress site I've been VERY happy with it and get a great response from people.
Good luck,
