1.
(I did not follow the topic, so my question has nothing to do with the ongoing discussion, my apologies)

I just wanted to know, if you know (!), if it will be possible with the G1X to choose the focal length (exemple start at 28mm, 35mm or 50mm or other) when you activate the camera? It was bored with the G12 to always be 'wide angle' when you turn on the camera! Thank for your advice. RJ.

  2.
Hello everyone and Happy New Year 2012 !

I want to find a powerful laboratory for making high-quality photographic prints in Paris. I make my photo in RAW, precisely with a 5D Mark II, and I wanted to make large format prints. Do you know a place or a specialist who really knows edit and optimize files and print them as well? I had some surprises some time ago with the big labs Paris (Central Color and Picto). I heard about Vimage, a lab in Palaiseau, which is very good, some of you know? if you know people or organization to recommend me, I would be delighted to work with them :)

    Thank you for your help,

    R.J.

PS: I hope I posted my question in the correct category and if the subject has already been addressed please let me know.

  3.
Hi everyone,
I want to buy a small compact Olympus XZ-1, which is, according to my research, one of the best compact-camera now.

*I just wanted to know if it is possible to "adjust" the focal of the lense at the time of the opening on/off. For example, if I want that when I turn on the camera, the lens is automatic on the 50mm and not 28mm (by default, the lens opening) ?

*Another little question, from a good RAW file, the images produced by the Olympus it is enlargeable up to 50x60cm print? Any experiments?

I hope I was clear, I used a translator.
If you have any other opinion or advice on this camera do not hesitate to share them.
Thank you.
Romain.

  4.
Hi everyone,
I would like to make panorama "adding" several images from my 5D MarkII. I have a tripod. The idea is to make vertical shooting for more definitions. Have you any advice before I try? Or do you know of websites to explain? I seek to know the basic and elementary rules. What software should I use for "switch" images of my 5D?
Thank you for your help,
Romain

  5.
Dear all,
I start this small topic, I hope he has not already been dealt with but after my research no.
I wanted to know if some of you have already tried the following technique. For making large prints of very high quality with 135 films or RAW files, lab told me that the best process was to make a small high paper print of approx. 30x40cm and then scan the print to make the large prints. Some of you have ever tried it? What were the results? For my lab, this process avoids the rise of the "grain" and pixels et is the greatest solution for large format print. I do not know what to think. I hope my topic is clear.
Thanks,
6.
Hello everybody,

For American Night, do you know what camera Paul Graham have used ?
A medium format but which I was impressed with the quality of large format prints. Did you know?
I also saw his last series "Shimmer of Possibility". Do you know if he made these images with a digital camera, and if yes which one ?
7.
Bonsoir,
Je suis francais de Paris. Merci pour vos conseils. J'ai suivie vos instructions (j'ai aumenté configuré mon fichier à 250% et non pas 800%).
La seul chose que je n'ai pas compris c'est votre derniere instruction (6_choose bicubic sharper to get the same level of sharpen that Genuine 7 add to the file. I normally use bicumic smooter and add a high pass filter after.. bicubic sharper does the job right wiht this image.) ? Pourriez vous m'en dire plus ?
Merci pour votre aide,

  8.
Hello everybody,

I am looking for experiences about Perfect Resize 7.0.1 OnOne software that allows you to enlarge the resolution files.

Is it efficient to enlarge the image size without too much damage? If you use it you be satisfied? and do you recommend?

I hope that the topic was not already addressed, from my side I do not find anything.

Roman

  9.
Do you recommend the software onOne Software Perfect Resize to gain resolution?

The best definition files supplied by the 5D (RAW) is 10x16in. for a resolution of 350pixels / inch. To make a 36inch high print, the resolution drops to approx. 100pixels/pouce,which is very little.

Any experiments?

    Thank you for your answers.

Many sellers tell me that the difference between the 50mm F1.2 and 50mm F1.4 is really small, some even say that the 1.4 is better at F8 F11 (aside the quality of construction).

But against the difference between the 35mm F2 and F1.4 is enormous. The difference in price is justified, it seems. That's why I ask your opinion.

Craig you are using 1.4 on a 5D?
11.
Hi,

I am looking for advice for 5D Mark II lenses. I have a 50mm F1.4 USM, that gives me good results. I would like to acquire a 35mm fixed focal length, I prefer to avoid zooms for obvious reasons, I heard that the 35mm F2 is really bad, especially in the corners of the image. So I'm leaning towards the 35mm F1.4, but still very expensive. Before being prohibited banking, I wanted to collect opinions of users satisfied with the couple 5D/35mm F1.4 ...

Thank you,
From your experiencer can print to the 40x60inch approx. without too much damage.

Art Thomas: that you use MF and LF cameras for better image quality. Review foryour test with the 5D should be fairly accurate (as you know the quality produced by a4x5).

By cons for such expansions with the 5D, the resolution must be reduced to 72DPI tobe large as 40 "x60" size image? no?
