Hey Jack, thanks for checking up on me.  Never was quite sure about this one but the composition and differing shapes always had me coming back to it.  You may have hit something on the head with your 'vagaries of scale' comment, thanks.  All the best - Jason.

John, thank you for your advice and for keeping an eye on me.  You are spot on in suggesting my darkroom work is not up to par, I am working at it.  This man, who I spoke briefly with, had strong political opinions and used his face as a canvas to voice them.  The center cross on his forehead reads "Start Loving" which he advised me is the name he goes by.

Thanks again, I'm watching you too.  (Congratulations on your recent POW).

    Warmest regards,

    Jason

  1. John, this is perhaps your BEST caption!  In 9 words you have managed to evoke the essence of this fantastic photograph.  You have really impressed me with your writing creativity.  Needless to say, the picture is a keeper as well.  The depth of field is perfect and I love what appears to the be the fleeting movement of the woman in the foreground, i.e. The Pleasure Meister.  Real winner here John, in all aspects.

Svetlana, I always liked shadow shots and this is really a good one.  The intriguing part of this photograph, for me at least, is how the figure of the shadow appears to be that of a much younger woman than the woman casting it. (Look at the shadows thin waistline).  Also, the contrast between the figures parallels with the contrast of the lighting, i.e. light forground going to a darker background, and really makes the image pop.

  2. The Cossaks are Coming!  No, judging by this capture they are already here.  Wow John, this is awesome.  Isn't it funny how sometimes the best photos are taken under the worst photographic conditions.  I think its because a little blur gives some soul to a photo.  Jason

  3. I agree that this would be great in B&W but I, unfortunately, can't lend any help on photoshop conversions.  Photographically speaking, the image is certainly a strong street capture and effectively conveys the defiant attitude of the smoker.  For me, however, it is the piercing stare of the other guy that draws me into the photo and keeps me coming back for more.  You hit a homerun using the wideangle.  All the best.
