It's certainly an interesting viewpoint that you've chosen for this one. Looks like he must have been holding the instrument in an odd way too. The strong diagonals and relative simplicity make this a powerful image. I like the big empty space near the top, but would perhaps prefer it without the little finger cropped off at the bottom.

Overall I think this is a great photo - the model's expression is really engaging, the focus seems sharp (as far as I can tell on my monitor) and the highlights in the eyes really sparkle. It's just a shame about the black strap protruding underneath her hair, which is somewhat distracting and seems like a careless oversight (I assume it wasn't an intentional feature of the composition).

Thanks for the comments Barry. I'm quite surprised how little grain there is considering the film was quite fast and was pushed. Still it was only a 5x7 enlargement. I don't know how much bigger I can get without too much grain. There was definitely a lot of luck involved in getting this one.

The composition is great. I think the shadow at the bottom helps to frame the bunch of grapes in the middle.

Nice. I'm glad you told us it was a tree, or I might not have guessed. This one would look good in a fairly big enlargement I think.

I can't remember many details of how I took this photo, since it was a
couple of years ago and I didn't take notes. I've only just got round
to getting a scanner (flatbed, but with a slide/film adapter) and this
was the first image I tried scanning from a slide. I don't think the
scan quite does justice to the original image, but I'd be interested
to know what you think of it.
Although the photo was taken in Devon, the subject is close to my
heart as an adoptive Welshman.
