<p>Thanks for the info everyone. It seems like just buying individual filters will be my best bet.</p>

<p>Mainly polarizing, nd grad, and nd filters. Though I plan to try other filters out.</p>

<p>Just wanted some thoughts on it. I'm looking into getting some filters for my lenses and the idea of having to buy different sized filters for my lenses wasn't appealing. Mainly concerned with quality. Do they compare to something along the lines of one of B+W high end filters? I don't want to have to upgrade to something later because I'm not satisfied with the results.</p>

<p>I know you said you didn't want to buy a usm lens, but you might consider the 15-85. It seems like it would be the perfect replacement for your 17-50 from what you're saying. Not only do you gain more reach and a bit of a wider lens, you'll have IS as well. It's not the fastest lens, but you can always bump the iso up a bit to compensate.</p>
<p>I own it and it's a great lens. I really like it. Quite sharp, not heavy, and the build quality isn't too bad. In my opinion an L lens in disguise. Though a faster constant aperture would be nice, it's something I find I can more then deal with.</p>
<p>Perhaps the 70-300 to replace your 55-250? Though I'm in agreement with Dave L, you're not going to see much difference.</p>

<p>Finally back. Missed the last 2 Canon Thursday's due to me being in Yosemite and San Francisco. Had a good time. A first time for both and they're definitely great places for photography.</p>
<p>This is from atop Sentinel Dome. By far my favorite place I visited while in Yosemite. Gives you 360 degree views of everything and is just simply amazing. Being not the most physically fit person, I did not enjoy the last stretch up the granite rock to the top. I especially wouldn't want to climb it after a rain, it's somewhat steep. I'm glad I did though, it was more then worth it.</p>

<p>Taken quite a few months ago from a ski resort. I'd gone snowboarding for the day and had brought my camera. Being the photographer you usually don't get photographed and I thought the scene looked pretty awesome so I put it on my tripod, set the auto timer and ran to the spot lol.</p>

<p>I'd say go with the 17-40 as well. Excellent lens and you could get it used for around your price range.</p>

<p>You may have this covered already, and I'm guessing you do, but if not, you may want to bring a laptop and a few external hard drives to back up all of your photos. </p>

<p>Your noise performance will definitely increase with either three of those models. On my 7D, 1600 comes out pretty clean on a properly exposed photo. As Dan said, having faster lenses does help, but they can be pricey.</p>

<p>Personally, I would go with the 24-105 if I had to choose between the two. I couldn't get away with just a 50, especially since it's not nearly wide enough for me. That's me though, so you may be just fine.</p>
