1.
Hi guys,
I am looking for a used rangefinder but i'm in the dark as to which are any good and which are rubbish.
Are there any rangefinders with a good reputation for being sturdy and good? Or just popular for good reasons.
I would prefer canon but thats just because i'm a fanboy:P Please suggest others aswell:D
Thank you,
Phil

 2.
canon lenses, 60D crop body, i am also considering tokina 50-135 2.8 non is. Any thoughts on that?
The f/4 is reported to be as sharp as 2.8 at the same f stops.
Im thinking about portraits outside where i use strobes combined with natural light aswell as only strobes at night for example.

 3.
Hi guys,
I am currently deciding between the 70-200 2.8 is II or the 4 is. I will be using this lens for a lot of things but my question is about portraiture:
Is there a normal aperture for portraits in controlled environments? Like, even if you have the 2.8 you will set it to 5.6(example). Is the 2.8 a better portrait lens or will the f/4 be just as good?
Thank you
Phil

 4.
Hi guys, hope this will be a nice discussion on image stabilizing systems:

I would love your input of how it is important or negligible to you on midrange zooms (FF= aprox 24-70, APS-C= aprox 16-50)

Do you often think "damn IS would sure be nice right about now" or do you manage without it? (f/2.8)

Phil

 5.
hmm well, the thing is, being norwegian i love photographing skiers in parks and in powder. (I'm a skier myself) That is one of the purposes as well as wildlife (maybe with 1.4x converter) in the beautiful woods of norway. I think the fact that i am stuck in Dallas is the main reason why the lens doesn't see the light so much yet.

 6.
I just came to a shocking realization. I suffer from lens freight!
I'm a student and for the money i earned in Norway this summer I was able to buy the new canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS II USM here in the states where i study (prices in states are super low compared to norwegian wages). Omg omg right? But... being as expensive as it is, I am almost afraid of taking it out. It's like I am carrying my life around on my camera. Not being a pro photographer also makes it scary to take it out as well because it is not a tool for earning a living. Also i'm a quite shy lad and I hate the attention i'm getting with this off white beast in my hands.

So...

I was thinking of downgrading (Am i crazy or should I simply man up and shoot the s*** out of this lens?)
An alternative would be the 70-200 f/4 IS (smaller, less expencive) or maybe a 70-200 equivalent for a aps-c sensor (sigma 50-150?)

These questions mess with my head all day so I thought i might just put it out there and see what you fellow shooters might say on the matter. What would you do?

Phil

 7.
william,
I chose to buy a sigma 30 1.4. I know sigmas are known for 50/50 chance of getting a good lens but I know the guys in the store and they said that i could switch untill i found a sharp one:P the 1.4 was too good to ignore and 30mm is the closest to a 50mm on a 1.6 crop.

 8.
Thanks for your input so far guys...

i have the tokina 11-16 for my ultra wide angle shots. I am thinking more about a lens that does all fairly well. Not possible lens pairs. To me the 15-85 seems to fit that description best. Whenever i take the 24-105 with be as my only lens I miss a couple of wider mm's.

My setup is:
11-16 2.8, 30 1.4, 50 1.4, 100 2.8 Macro, and 70-200. (plus the 24-105)
I feel that the lenses above cover my needs for any purpose. But say on a vacation or if i really have to pack light. What general purpose would be best on a crop.
9.
Hi guys.
I am shooting with a 60d and some time ago i treated my self to a 24-105mm lens as a general purpose lens. As time goes by this purchase makes less and less sense to me. 24 just isn't wide enough on a 1.6 crop body.

The contender seems to be the 15-85. I have a 30mm 1.4 and a 50mm 1.4 so there is no need for the 17-55 2.8 for the sake of the f-stop.

Yes the 15-85 is a 3.5-5.6 but then again the 24-105 is a 4 so that isn't really an issue right? I just hate selling an L lens for a ef-s lens but at these focal lengths it makes sense yes?

As far as IQ goes, does anyone have a comparison? i have only heard great things about the ef-s. The L delivers as a red ring should ofcourse...

Thank you
from a slightly anxious Phil

 10.
Hi guys!

I am looking to buy a prime lens for street photography. I use a crop sensor camera and my options are the 24mm and 35mm (both non L) I have read some reviews but still find it to be a hard choice.

I am leaning towards the 24mm.

Any advice/ knowledge regarding these lenses would be great!

Thank you

Phil

 11.
Hi,
I had this exact choice a while ago. I bought the 60D simply because it was more in my budget range. The only thing i can say is that if you shoot a lot of movement you should definitely go with the 7D. It has higher fps as well as canons latest AF system. If you are shooting landscapes, portraits etc, there is no difference because you dont need the features i just meantioned.

Hope this helped

Phil

 12.
Hi guys!

I have a cropped sensor canon camera and i would like to do some photo shoots with models (female).
The lenses I own are:
10-22mm
24-105mm
70-300mm
50mm 1.4

Can all of the lenses be used with different effects or are some of them a no go?
Is there a difference in lens choicee when it comes to portrait and full body photos?

I am in the dark here so any advice you could give me regarding what lens to choose would be great!

Thank you

Philip

 13.
Hi guys!

I've been looking at some Billingham bags lately but i find it hard to choose one because there are so few images of the bags when worn by people. I can't really relate to the measurements alone.

I need the bag for everyday use/ light traveling.
It has to have room for the following in main department:
-Canon 60D
-Canon 24-105
-Canon 50 1.4
-Canon 70-300
-Tokina or Canon ultra wide angle zoom. (buying when i get the green)
I am not looking for anything larger than the Packington. The Hadley Large also seems like an option.
Anyone know how the wearability of the Packington is? Is it as comfortable as the Hadley is suposed to be?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Phil

 14.
Hey guys!

Just got my hands on a 60D and some L glass! I'm so excited!

I was just wondering what wide angle lens you would recommend for a 1.6 cropped sensor camera:
Canon 10-22 or the Tokina 11-16.
The Canon is almost twice as expencive as the Tokina so i guess my question is: Can the abilities of the Canon lens justify that price compared to the Tokina?
I doubt it but I would love to hear what you all have to say!

Philip
