Hello. Thank you, but again, it was a shot of opportunity, so I had to be panning to even catch it, and I didn't have time to zoom, or even refocus, thus the takeoff and landing shots were out of focus (as was the entire sequence of it fishing, but that's for the Pentax equipment forum). However, I have established it's territories, and will keep that in mind next time I go out looking for it.

This is my second BiF picture that is (close to) sharp (I wouldn't mind a

critique on my first one, entitled, not-very-creatively "Egret" ). I was

approaching it, when it flew to the other side of the pond after a baby catfish

(the other side of the pond wasn't too far away). I caught this, still at

300mm, as it passed closest.

That is a very nice photo, but (take this with a grain of salt, because I haven't got anything this good) I would have given it more "Gazing Room" by placing it slightly farther to the right. Also, I would have gone with either a smaller aperture for DOF or focus a little farther back, because the head is out of focus, but once again, this is better than any of my work.

Thank you. The shutter speed was my bad; that was the best of my last sequence I shot, and I was out until far darker than I expected, and neglected to bring a tripod as a result. The noise is low because I used the non-commercial NeatImage, and then I went into GIMP and HF and used their respective features (the main features of GIMP and the retouching of Helicon Filter) to manually remove the remaining noise. Frankly, that is one of my best ever pictures (I am not a very good photographer (yet)). Once again, thank you.

Found him fishing, and after a rather lengthy discussion, mostly my

profession that I would not eat him, he agreed to pose for me. I am aware

that my framing is a little off.

I learned two valuable lessons in taking this picture:

1: Long-legged waders love golf courses

2: As long as you don't interfere with the game, you basically have

free reign of the rough if you carry enough equipment to look

professional.

I was crawling around in a camouflage jacket, following a mockingbird.

It then flew across the lake as I clicked the shutter (which was slow

enough to produce blur). I then tied the got up to go home and was

accosted by a swarm of these little fellas (whose nest I had gotten

near. I couldn't get to it though. Too high.)

I went out to Botany Bay, and I took a 200mm/4 and a 500mm/8 refractor

to go bird hunting. I took this picture of the bird on the ground and

Cropped it to show more bird and less background. I couldn't have

gotten closer because of the fencing they put up to protect the birds

from people who want to get closer to the bird they are looking at,

but are not wary enough to see the nest that they are about to step on

(Grrr... why can't people just pay more attention and have common sense)

I would not call yours better for the sole reason that you were unable to post in full resolution. However, since the same detail is visible in your smaller version, I would have to say that yours would probably be sharper at native resolution. Thank you for pointing that out.

I was outside, taking pictures of hummingbirds, which failed to show

up, and I saw a squirrel. I had my 80-200mm/4 and I focused the shot,

and it was far too small. I cropped it to 100% and that was the result.

I have absolutely no idea what it is. People on the walk with me said mockingbird. I had no effective or grounded argument. I went with mockingbird.

I did a Google Images search on both, and I for one think it looks more like the results for mockingbird, but once again, you probably know more about it than me. Thank you

I was on a walk with friends and family, carrying my Vivitar V3800n

and Pentax 80-200mm/4, when I saw that mockingbird sitting on an

ornate street sign.
