1. The other thing I noticed was that when moving the FLE scale on my 50mm lens away from the Inf - 4 metres, the focus scale on the lens barrel means nothing. That is to say, it is only accurate when the FLE is at Inf - 4 metres.

Many thanks for all the replies and suggestions on this question. Much appreciated.

Great news! I`ve been told the right way is to move the FLE ring first and then the usual focus ring to get it right. Did you do this?

  2. Has anyone had the same issues, and if so, was the cause ever found / rectified?

I had the same issue some years ago and ended up selling my Hasselblad (got a new one now). The buyer said that the problem was the focussing screen, he just put another screen in place and the problem was solved. Double check your screen.

  3. It is that easy. Guestimate the distance and set the fle ring appropriately (i.e. to the corresponding mark, not in between), then focus using the focusing ring. Check whether your guestimate was good, and if not readjust and refocus.

Forgetting to set the fle ring is not a big deal. You just do not get the utmost out of the lens (which you also do not using the camera handheld).

    Thank you sir!

  4. Hello!

I just aquired a Distagon 50/4 CF FLE for Hasselblad and I just want to be clear on how to operate the FLE ring correctly. I know that I should set the FLE ring first and then focus as usual. Should I think like this, when I want the focus to be from 0,5m-0,8m/ 0,8m-1,2m/ 1,2m-4m, 4m-infinity I set the ring between those markings? Is it that easy? Or is it more to it?

  5.
Hi!
I love to shoot at f/2.8 but most of my scans shows that I´m out of focus about 10cm (4 inches) too far away from where I want to focus if its close, like 1 meter (40 inches).. I have shot 3 rolls so far and I can see this issue on all images, last roll I really tried to nail focus on certain things like raindrops and flowers but the focus is further away. Could it be my screen? How do I check this or does my camera need service? I have changed the light seals in my A12 mag if that makes any difference..
Thanks!

  6.
Ulrik, thanks, I did that. My thoughts now is that the plastic part with the foam is ok but rather the other sticker-seal that you put on the backside of the front plate is the one causing the little extra effort. I think it feels easier now after a couple of days, maybe it just needs a little time to settle? ^^
Paul, thank you. Yes, I´ll store my camera whithout the dark slide in and of course you want to have the dark slide in the mag in your bag, I always re-cock my camera after a shot and I don´t want to waste any frames. =)

  7.
Thank you Francisco! My foam didn´t look exactly like the one in your link, it was not thin, more squarish but with shaped edges like the plastic seal.. I´m pretty sure I got all the foam in under the plastics. Maybe with some time it will be more flat? I also replaced the long flat seal that you stick unto the back of the magazine´s black front plate.

  8.
I have just replaced my light seals in my A12 for the first time and now the metal plate is a little difficult to slide in.. you can´t slide it in, it needs a little effort, I was thinking maybe I screwed back the screws back to hard? Everything is working though, I have winded the back and fired the camera a few times, but the dark slide is a little tight to slide in... what could have caused this? Or is it common right after both seals have been replaced?
Thanks!

  9.
Hi! I´ve heard they are just as good but harder to focus and more flare if shooting in strong sunlight because they lack the T* coating. Watch out for dust in them too, probably more common.. I often think that photos taken with the non T lenses looks softer and less contrasty, it could just be me..
