1. Will all those pixels in D800, i think there will be no difference in using 135/2 in FF or the 85/1.4 in DX mode, except if you

    shoot outdoors.

If you are using a DX camera, then you'll have to decide which focal lengh is better for you needs.

Either way you shoul be fine.

I have both and they are equally excellet.

Let your pocket and your heart decide....:)

  2. I have both lenses.

I need an extra punch from a pro level 2.8 lens (180-200mm).

I believe the 70-200/80-200mm 2.8 are better in terms of AF speed and versatility but I dislike its size and weight, as don't like to carry a

    tripod around.

I considered the Nikon's prime 180mm/2.8, as it is half the weight and a fraction of the price, for specific low light situations, but it has no

    VR for my D90/D700 cameras.

In summary, i am supposed to sell one lens, do you think i should sell my 70-300mmVR as I already have the good 28-300mm VR ?

If i am concernerd with size and weight, will the 180mm/2.8 fulfill my needs ?

Will I miss the VR feature using the 180mm, evem with so much ISO capabilities from my cameras (specially the D700).

Will I be good with the 28-300 for alll around shooting and a 180/2.8 for some special ocasions? Will I regret not taking the more expensive and heavy zoom?

I hope you help me in this issue.

    Thanxs.

  3.
Graham, I do have a Nikon D700 + 24-70/2.8 and I'm sure you will not regret keeping this combo.
A D3 will not perform any better than the d700 with this lens and you can always buy a grip latter if it maters to you and you still get a pop up flash for free. :)
That was the best suggestion of all in my opinion.
Besides, what's the use of having a top Nikon camera body like D3 or D700 to use with a third party lens ??

  4.
Depending on your GF's budget, a D90 is still an excellent option and a great value.
I have one and don't feel any need to upgrade it.
A refurbished (=new) D90 costs only U$ 719.95 at B&H (U$ 500.00 less than de D7000).
I already purchased refurbished cameras in the past and never regretted.
With this money she can buy good a quality lens and/or a Nikon dedicated flash and she will probably get the same pictures with the d90 or D7000 anyway.
I think it's worth considering...
Good luck. :)

  5.
I contacted my Credicard and they said that can can do nothing about ir because it was a legal transaction.
Paypal said that they can no longer do anything about it since the 20 days period for the dispute had expired.
Nikon claims they did not receive the money.
A sent an email to Paypal with a complaint agaist themselves.
It seeems I was legally cheated by someone but I cannot define who was it.
Any more ideas ???

  6.
I live in São Paulo (Brazil) and I purchased a Nikon CApture NX2 in the Internet fron Nikon USA and payed with Paypal on september 14th. and it was charged from my Credit Card on this very day (U$ 179.95).
They should confirm my purchase in 24-48h but after waiting for 3 days with no answer I decided to contact custumer service by e-mail.
The apologized and said they didn't have this item available (that information was not available in the Internet) and suggested me to buy a downloadable version and I agreed, BUT, I had already payed and needed my refund to make another purchase (serial).
Againn, they did not answer, so I decided to make a long international phone call to customer service and they agreed to find me a solution in 1-2 days and again, never returned with a solution for me.
I opened a dispute on Paypal and Nikon contacted me and promised to give my refund.
The dispute expired on oct. 14th and of course I did not make a complaint because everything seemed to be settled.
A few days latter they sent me an email saying that my transaction was voided by Paypal on sep./16th, but the money was debited normally from my account
I sent them a copy of my receipt with the debit confirmation from my Credicard 12 days ago and they never minded to answer again.
I sent another 2 emails and no answer so far.
I can't believe this is happening buying directly from Nikonusa...
Could anybody help me on how to solve this puzzle ???
