Thanks guys for the thoughtful input. It helps clarify for me that this is a factor when considering the 60D.
It certainly seems like quite a few people find it useful, though not all.
I would agree with those who have said that like to have it,but not going to get the 7D instead just to get it.

I currently have a 30D and noticed that the new 60D does NOT include the above feature unlike the 50D.

Can anyone comment on how useful the AF Micro-adjustment has been in their experience? Has it helped you correct for any lens that you may have that has some focus calibration issues?

There looks like an incipient campaign to write/petition/complain to Canon about this on the canonrumors forum. (I have not included a link here as I am not sure if that would violate the guidelines here - am fairly new to this forum.)

I have a 30D as well. It is dependent on an onboard/mounted flash to trigger the slave flash. The 30D itself does not have any wireless flash trigger built-in. You will need to have an add-on (a 'master' flash or wireless trigger) mounted on the 30D - or use the 'optical' method suggested already.
For Canon model flash, the 5xx series flash can act as a wireless 'master' flash. The 4xx series do not and can only be used as standalone when mounted, or as 'slave' flash. Check your new Nissim's specs on whether it can be a 'master' flash, and figure out what you need to add.

All 3 models are based on the same sensor. I think features-wise and controls-wise it looks like the 60D continues its xxD history; which to me is somewhere between the 7D and T2i/550D, but with that very useful rear dial like the 7D.
However, Canon is differentiating the 60D more from the 7D by switching the 60D to use SD cards, and it no longer have a magnesium alloy body. I guess they think to do otherwise would have left the 60D too similar to the 7D.
The flip-out lcd screen gives it a unique feature from both the T2i/550D and 7D. For those who like/want this it could be the deciding factor.

That its the new 60D seems to be the general 'rumour' mill consensus. Have wished for a DSLR with flip out screen, but not sure how the loss of some of the direct choice buttons would impact handling/convenience when I have it in hand.

Real World 30D use question.

I have had a 30D since 2006. Performance and image quality is great.
One thing you might want to keep in mind, since your primary is 50D, is that the 30D sensor only has 8MPixel - not much room for cropping at all.
