This is to be mounted on top of a video head (like the Manfrotto 501HD).</p>

<p>I've been looking at this too. I want a good video head for panning so I've been looking at The Manfrotto 501 and above. As for shooting vertical photos I was thinking of adding a photo head on top of the video head since that would allow faster switching when I'm in the field (I do occasionally shoot both photo and video on the same mission). But with standard parts I can't get enough clearing from the base plate of the video head to mount my Canon 7d for vertical shots. So I'm looking either to find a solution from another brand or to do some kind of DIY solution to get the clearance I need to mount the camera. I don't really want to be carrying around both at photo AND a video tripod.</p>
