1. Guys thx for the responses. Today I visited some camera shops and handed some options.

Fuji mirrorless cameras are good but out of my budget atm.

Samsung NX series are also considered, but as someone mentioned both are system cameras. I wouldn't go for samsung just because

its a little cheaper than Fuji which would have been my first choice.

The father in law offered his D3100 which seems to be the most convenient option, for which We can share lots of lens options too (may

be good or not :) ).

Thx for the help and with my Best Regards...

  2.
Hi Guys,
Long time no talk, and I hope you all doing fine...
We'll take a trip to Cuba soon, and I would like to add a point&shoot, 3/4s or mirrorless camera to my gear, especially for my wife's use.
I currently have a D800 w various Nikon Lenses, which serves to my needs. My wife, who has very limited photography background but a good eye; asks for having her own equipment that she can use during the trip. Her request, in a way, matches with my future plans to have a simple, easy to carry camera, which may also serve as a complimentary to my set.
I always had Canon G series in my mind in the past, but I am not very familiar with recent developments. So your recommendations are more than welcome...
Thx in advance and all the best, Ismail.
P.S. : The main reason why I post this question in this forum is about the people in here with whom I believe I share similar photographic choices / standards...

  3. Canon friends,

I need to advice a friend which Canon body and lenses to buy. I know her needs and she is looking for. I can advice the match to her

needs in Nikon language (I am a Nikon user) but I ll suggest to buy Canon counter types as she already has some Canon equipment that

she may choose to use as a second body and as additional equipment.

What she needs are as below. Would you pls suggest the match in Canon portfolio.

    Nikon D7100 + 50 mm 1.8 + 60 mm micro 2.8 + 24-120 mm f4 + 70-200 mm f4

Would you pls advise on Canon counter types of

    Nikkor 18-50 f2.8

    Thx in advance

  4.
Hi to all Nikon Wednesday contributors.
Among many good photos of this week, I loved the macro of John F, bird of Richard A., Tennis Court of Shun and daisy and (the first) pelican of Roberta most. Below is an early sign of spring from where I live.

00cRho-546163584.jpg.2457d282e145a54870e377dd05b891aa.jpg

  5.
Hi all,
We spent and extended weekend in London (and Brighton) last week. Several fun in London and the city was particular this time as she was prepared for the New Year!
Cheers...

00cD41-543953684.jpg.4df1970dd0c72ad812bc209f778feb20.jpg

  6. Oliver, I was the victim of a similar issue with the same lens with d800. I followed the procedure as Shun adviced, cleaned the contacts

including the aperture clips which is placed on the side of the body mount and all get to normal. If it does not work, I would suggest you

to try the lens with another D700 to see whether the issue is with the lens or the body.

  7. Georges, Shun, thx for being pushy for the same suggestion. I repeated the cleaning and got back the communication

between the body and the lens. I cant say there was a significant amount of dust, or dirt but whatever it is, it worked.

    Thx again.

  8. Thx Jonathan. That is what I am going to do if someone will not tell me a firmware, or setup related thing that I miss,

which may let me to overcome the issue. I do not have a repairshop nearby and I need to send both with courier, which

    bothers me a bit.

  9. Dear members, I am facing a strange situation and seek for your support if anyone have seen a similar problem.

I am a D800 owner and use it with some AF-D lenses and also have 16-35, 105 mm Af-S nikkor lenses that I use without a problem.

Recently I sold my 28-300 lens and bought a second hand 24-120 mm f4 nikkor lens. When I bought the lens I tried it with a D7000 and

the lens is in a mint and proper condition.

Here comes the point : the lens does not auto-focus and expose on my D800. On live view, it auto focuses but does not expose. Before

sending this post, I tried the lens on another D800 and D3000 and it works perfecly.

Before sending the body to repair, I wanted to check whether anyone heree faced a similar issue and (hopefully) it has a quick and easy

    solution that I oversee.
