1.
Hi,

I am moving away from printing at home and I am looking for an online printing service. I print Fine Art Macro photography, no mass production, however, I would love the price to be lower for selling reasons. Right now I tried smugmug, which i have ordered prints from the past and have been pleased. But to print 13x19 it cost $10, which I am hoping I can find a service that is cheaper.
What are some recommendations and why do you like them?
what other features do they have/or should I be looking for?

Thank!

  2.
Thank you everyone, this has been very helpful! I think the best will be just to get knee deep and try it out. I think I will try the stitching and just straight forward fish eye. never know what magic might happen. Thanks!

  3.
I am new in the wonderful world of Landscape photography, I am trained in Macro. So I need help deciding if a Fisheye lens would be okay for landscape.

I have a not so exciting Nikon D200, and last weekend I rented the 12-24mm F4G ED-IF AF-S DX while hiking. I did enjoy the pictures, but I just want wider! I liked about this lens is the sharpness, and the ability to play with DOF.
This weekend I will be hiking a 14er that has magnificent aspen changing. Recommendations on a lens? Would a fisheye work or would you recommend something else?

I am looking for wide, sharp, and creative. As of right now, I want to play and no intention on selling, however, that would be a nice result.

Thanks!

  4. Hello,

I have my MA in photography, i had a year of a teaching graduate assistantship, i have been in multiple shows and i am a contacted

  5.
I am trying to export from Lightroom 3 to Smugmug however I am missing a step. This is what I have done so far.

In Lightroom I go to File - Export. While in Export Manager I select the Plug-in Manager button. This takes me to the Plug-in Manager menu. I then highlight SmugMug Plug-in and click on the Plug-in Exchange button. This takes me to the SmugMug Plug-in website, which has no directions so I download the program, unzip the program and run it. After that I go back to the Lightroom Plug-in Manger, re-select the SmugMug plug-in and select the Add button, and I finish downloading the program. after this SmugMug say's "installed and running." so assuming everything is working I click the done button and return to the export menu. From here I select the drop down bottom that say's "Export To" however, the only option under Export To is Hard Drive. No SmugMug

So I am thinking I missed a step. I have checked my not so helpful book, adobe's website and uninstalled and installed the program again, restarted my computer and Lightroom.

I am missing something please help me figure out what it is.

Thank You.

  6.
I edited some photographs in Lightroom 3 and also in Photoshop CS5. I then uploaded them to kodak.com and also my website. I noticed that the colors were not at vivid as they are on my computer. I remember reading in school a long time ago about web color being different than print colors or whatever, which is probably the problem. I am wondering how I can make the colors I see on my screen the same colors I see on the website. I feel like this is a recent problem I am having.

If you go to this link the first set of wedding photographs are dark and blah colors. This is not how it looks on my computer or the CD. Can someone help me figure out how to make these look like they do on my computer.

The colorspace in photoshop is prophoto rgb 16 bit.

  7.
I am new to Lightroom. I figured out how to export photos from Lightroom to Photoshop. When I finish with my adjustments in Photoshop, I want the adjustments to show up in Lightroom. Is there an easy way to get the adjustments to show in Lightroom. So far, what I concluded is while in Photoshop I save the image and then just re import it into Lightroom, but then there is two of the same images, one with PS adjustment and one without. Is there an easier way?

  8.
So many good suggestions! thanks you. as for my budget I would like to stay below 1000. I am not sure if this too much or too little. I am willing to go above if I have too. I have friend who builds computers and might be able to do it for me with all the specs I need. Or I will mostly likely purchase from DELL if that doesn't work out. It will be a few months down the road to get the cash together but I think this is a very worthwhile investment. Thank you all for responding and any additional suggestions are welcome since I am still pricing out things!

  9.
I am also shooting a wedding at dusk in the city, and have been thinking the same questions. I don't mean to steal your post and I was just curious about the flash.
When using the flash as a fill flash where is the flash bounced or should the flash just be pointed at the B&G? Would reflectors be beneficial to bounce the light either off the flash or the sunlight?

  10.
I use a Nikon and CS5 and photograph mostly in RAW. I was wondering should I set my color space on my camera to sRGB or AdobeRGB? and what is the difference?
I do print and post for web.
Once I have my camera set to one of this should I configure adobe to the same color space?
I have never put must thought into this and think maybe I should!
Also a question about Photoshop Camera in the RAW.
In the workflow options in Camera in the RAW what is the differences for the space (ProPhoto RGB, ColorMatch RGB etc)? and I have my space set to 16bit ProPhoto RGB. I read somewhere that is a good setting but I don't know why. any thoughts?

  11.
any suggestions on a good monitor calibrator?
my only concern with switching to mac is i have used a PC my entire life and have only used mac in school. So i am concerned that my Photoshop, and other things wont work on a mac and i will have to buy it all new. is this true or will mac take my programs and external hard drives?
I do have four external backups, two full (mostly because they are small and I have a lot I need to remove) and the other two will I think take a long long time to fill up because they are both 2 TB. should I get another?
So this is what I have gathered from what all of you have suggested and what I have read. If I go with a PC, I should get a least two hard drives, one for OS and one for the media, 64 bit with the minimum of 16 RAM and a desktop? any other suggestions on this end?
If I decided to go with MAC what should I look for in those computers?

  12.
I am not sure which forum to ask this question. But I am looking at purchasing a new computer. I was wondering if anyone has advice on what I should looks for. because of my budget I cannot afford a MAC and all my experience is with PC's mostly the DELL brand. I do mostly fine art and some weddings and portraits. I find that 4GB is not enough. I use mostly Photoshop CS5 and Camera in the raw(adobe bridge CS5). Advice?

  13.
I am looking for a constant light source for some particular photo ideas. I would like the portable light to be hand held and battery powered. That way I can or my friend can go to different areas around the B&G: lets say above the B&G on a stairwell and have a light source from there or have the B&G backlit.
I am thinking that I should go ahead and shoot the wedding as planned and at a later date rent the Q Flash and experiment then. After reading all your comments, I think I should stick with what I know and I don't feel like two weeks will be enough time for me to feel comfortable experimenting with new equipment. I am familiar with the equipment that I am renting and am confident that I will get some good photographs. I think I might go ahead and rent a second SB800. This seems like it will be beneficial.
I am comfortable with my studio lights and umbrella. Would it be ridiculous for me to take these with me? I am able to have them in one bag I can set aside and use if needed.
