    Nick,

    Sorry I didn't put down the techincal aspects of the photo.... The reason why I wasn't able to get greater depth of field is that this shot is handheld at 1/8th of a second at f/8 @ 28mm. I was using my 28-135 Canon EOS Image Stabalized lens. I was on a hike just for fun and hadn't bothered to carry a tripod along.

  1. Thanks for the feedback Chris. I didn't have a graduated neutral density filter so I metered for the mountains and sky instead of the trees. I also thought that the darker trees would help seperate the reflection in the lake which is what really caught my interest.

    At first I liked the photo with the flare only in the bottom left corner.... It seemed to balance the photo out. The more I looked at this one I liked the way the flare resided in the background. Was the flare created by a fill flash reflecting off rain or snow falling? Nice shot though, I've always liked detailed shots like this that a lot of people seem to pass by for the bigger things.
