1. Hi!

As Eric pointed, the later article has a short PDF manual on how to do the repairs. Be careful! If you're lucky, maybe even applying a generous amount of contact spray without taking the camera apart will solve the issue. Be sure to remove the battery and leave the camera to dry for a couple of hours at least before trying it out.

And if you need any assistance, feel free to write...

  2. Hi!

Great if this helps! And be careful with the AE lock switch itself. I had to dismantle it too and broke a wire in the process.
In the attached picture, you can see that the mechanism for the removal of the handle has a few spring/ball combinations. I almost lost some! So remove them with care.

After that there comes the dial itself which is OK but once you remove it, there are a few small sticks that can easily fall out. They keep the dial in place when using the AE lock.
And if it is no problem, I'd like to compare notes on wire combination:
- there are two switches.
- a blue and a yellow wire for each one
- the switches are connected with a short naked wire
- black wire is connected to that short wire
Everything works fine, but maybe I got something wrong so if you don't mind posting your configuration that would be great.

Sadly, no schematics or service manual - all trial and error:-)
Hope this helps!
3. Joseph, I resoldered all connections with the back, and in my opinion they are OK. Tried exercising some force to the joint and they seam to hold - the measurements also show that they are correctly connected. I think that I probably short-circuited something non essential and hence the back setting is not visible in the camera. Unfortunately, I don't have another back nor do I have someone who can lend me one for testing, so I'm kind of fishing in the dark...

Nice idea thoe :-)

P.S. Thanks for taking the time to read the shutter speed dial cleaning post, I was beginning to doubt it's usefulness :-)

  4. I see your idea about voltage divider and it sounds correct (without the schematics to read it is hard to tell, but it seams reasonable).

Anyway, I measured from the body, and the 2&6 pins show 595 Ohms which is quite different from you measures. All other pins have no measures at all and pin 6 is grounded on the camera body. t the same time, the compensation dial works fine. Took some voltage measures too and all the pins show activity - I guess that something in the camera itself is not OK. A shame :-)

I'll probably give it another try, but if you could just check about pin 6 being grounded? Thanks for the input!

  5. Hi to all!

Again some trouble with the Rollei 6008 Integral. Namely, the film back is a

6000 series one and I think it is adapted to work with 6008 camera - so the

camera can read the ASA setting. At some point, the camera did that nicely, but

I had some trouble which "forced" me to poke inside and even thoe I solved the

problem, now the camera want read the ASA seteting.

I did measure the resistance from the contacts on the back itself and I can see

that the setting on the back does work but I am not sure that the measures are

correct. The below table shows all the measuring, the contact number 1 is at the

far left as shown on the attached image.

The camera does not respond to ASA setting, but frame forwarding is OK, film

loading also and also the detection of film protection slide not fully

    open.

Unfortunately, I do not have any repair manuals and/or schematics so feel free

to show me the way :-) Any pointers appreciated!

Thanks!
6. Recently I had some trouble with the manual exposure setting

    on Rollei 6008 Integral.

The problem was that on the manual exposure setting, the

camera would not show the speed that was on the dial but always 30" and

regardless of the lighting conditions and the aperture setting on the lens. In

the automatic exposure mode however all worked well and as expected.

After some research, especially on this forum, and a bit of luck, I manged to

locate the source of the trouble - the exposure speed / shutter / AE lock dial.

I guess, since this is a used camera, that if it has not been used much, the

dust creates a lot of trouble.

The attached pdf contains the procedure for cleaning the dial and on

http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00Hcly forum posts you can read

    additional information.

Hope this helps!
7. Good news! I've managed to repair the error as Erik de G. suggested.

Namely, as far as I can tell, the main cause of problems was dirty or otherwise bad contacts on the exposure setting dial.

I've managed to open the camera and clean those contacts using contact spray and some rather "nervous" rotating :-) Sadly, didn't figure out how to get to that part of the body early on, so I did some stupid dismantling of the shutter dial itself. It's OK now, fortunately!

All in all the problem is solved, but I do have another one at the moment - the body doesn't recognize the ASA setting on the film back. Will try to haggle the problem for a few days and after that I'll post a small "walk through" for other users.

Thanks to all for help!
  8. Hi all!

I have only one lens, and when I change the aperture, it is correctly shown on the display.
Again, with or without the lens and in center weighted mode, everything works OK at the A mode on speed dial, but when I set any other value on the speed dial, it shows only 30" exposure regardless of the actual lighting.

I found out another interesting thing, when I set the speed dial to 500 and a 1/3 stop down (1 step to the 1000 mark), the display shows "-5 6400" for a brief time - almost as if it thinks it is working with a 6400 ASA film.

Tried cleaning it like suggested, but to no avail.
Well I think it is off to the repairs.
If anybody has a suggestion what to try, since I'm really far away from any repair shop (Croatia), I'd even dare to "pry it open" :-) So, any suggestion welcome.

OK, that is it for now...
Thanks all the same!

  9. Hi!

I'm having a bit of trouble regarding manual exposure on my new(used)

    Rollei.
Namely, when I want to use manual exposure, whatever exposure time I

    set
(the aperture is at 2.8 or any other value but A),
the camera always

wants to use 15 seconds or 30 seconds exposure time.

A few days ago I had the same problem but it went away by itself,
but now I

just can't solve this one... So far I've tried:
- turning the camera off, the setting the center weighted metering and turning

    it back on
- all the combinations of metering
- all the combinations of un/locking the AE lock button
- removing the battery

In automatic aperture mode, everything works fine...
OK that is it more or less...
Thanks for help!
10. Hi all!

Well, the deices have rolled :-) I found a used Rollei 6008 Integral complete package (80mm F2.8 Planar PQ, back, waist level finder, battery, charger and some more stuff like filters, car charger adapter etc.) for about 1200Eu.. The stuff is on the way (I hope!!!), and you'll get an update when it arrives :-)

    Thanks for the help!

  11. First of all, thanks for the responses.

All in all, I think the budget will be the main force behind the decision :-(

If it had been for the quality without expenses, I'd probably go with Rollei 6008 + Rolleiflex 2.8FX :-) As it is, I'm still ambivalent about these choices:
- Rollei 6002/6006 80 F2.8 PLANAR HFT (BAYONET VI) (6000, SLX) used, for 900$ at KEH
- Hasselblad 500C/M (Chrome), Waist Level, A12 (120), 80mm f/2.8 Planar C (Black) used, for 650$ at B&H

Seams that Rollei GX/FX are a bit too expensive at the moment, especially since I already own an older version (3.5 Tessar M...something). Anyway, I'll try and post some conclusion later, if and when I decide :-)

    Thanks again for help!

  12. Hmm I think I got a few problems of that kind 'cause of the drying out of the water after developing the film. Such streaks would be seen even on the emulsion itself as "different". Hard to explain but if you can see it on the surface that is it... Hope it helps...
  13. I guess no problem would occur regarding the stealing of a Rolleiflex. My only "problem" was that I got intercepted by shop security a few times because I had "a black box" which they wanted to get familiar with :-) Anyway, besides that and a few strange looks by passers by, nobody noticed it. But I guess it would be the same with the Yashica as well :-)
  14. Hi all!

I know this is something asked more than one but I really haven't reached a

    conclusion so here it is.

I've done much reading and browsed for reviews of the 3 camera lines from

subject (on this site especially also) but most of the info is rather old (just

a few comments from 2007 and 2006 is barely enough). I'd like to know a bit more

about real field usage (details below) and experience and especially how are

these cameras comparing to the modern digital ones - I must say I still prefer

the film medium since I like to "get my hands dirty" but with enough of a push I

might just cross to the other side of the street :-)

I don't know what to say any more, just that here are some guidelines to my

thinking and needs - if it can be of help. My aim is a nice all around system

that can be used for (in that order):

    - street portraits; especially since I'm working on a local people portrait

project and this is generally the theme I like to do (since it is the most

    demanding for me)

    - studio portraits; no makeup, just plain/honestly portrayed face that gives out

the eyes and the soul (I don't really like fashion stuff)

    - landscapes; nature was and is a great drive

The question is about the choice. I guess I'm the final judge with my personal

quirks but I'd firstly like to hear some fresh opinions.

    Other info:

    - I do mostly B&W (my own developing)

    - but I like slides as well (especially cross processing)

    - 6x6 is preferred format (I do not publish for magazines, mainly it is for my

    own satisfaction and gallery work)

    - macro would be nice but I can live without since I own Mamiya Universal with

    extension rings

    - current Rolleiflex is about 50 years old and works nice but I can't help

wondering if the new lenses from eg. Rolleiflex 2.8 FK or PQ lenses from Rollei

    are "much better"

    - also, Hasselblad is much appealing as a others but I've been reading that

Rollei has a bit better lenses and craftsmenship so I wouldn't mind the narrow

used market if it meant to be working with "better stuff"

    - I also don't mind working with one lens, been doing that kind of photography

so much I kind of got lost when I grabbed my Nikon and zoom lenses after a long time

    - quality is my first requirement, after that comes reliability (standard CLA is

a given, but I really like the feeling that the camera just works -> that is

probably why I like the TLR's and pure mechanical cameras so much) and the rest

is at about equal 5th place :-)

    - maybe in some distant future a digital back would be an option, but if I ever

got to that kind of money, I guess a new camera would not be a problem :-)

OK, I think I pretty much covered the basics.

Thanks to all for the effort!

If needed I can also post the sites and sources I used for info...

    Bye bye!
