A good ICC profile redistributes Hue, Saturation as well as Luminance in a way that let's pop the images to life. BTW I forgot to add Argyll in the list.

Yes to everything, Mike! Less emphatically I'd say, to recreate this, if at all possible, a highly trained person would have to spend long hours in front of your screen. Most important is distribution of colors and above all, there is an incredible increase in the quality in the distribution of tones!

For a new 5D MrkII I need an ICC profile for use with Capture One Pro v6.2. A few months back, I managed to profile a different 5D2 successfully with ProfileMaker (standard settings; so for "Repro" there is nothing to be particularly familiar with) and an reflective glossy IT8 chart. Only this time, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. The result is not slightly off, its absolutely not usable, totally posterized:
Same IT8 chart (tried also simple CC24) shot under necessary circumstances (black studio, no reflections, even illumination).
in capture one:
No color corrections "Color View" profile.
Linear film curve.
Everything zeroed.
Output with "Embedded Camera Profile".
16bit Tiff at 100% Scale.
In profile maker:
open correct target reference.
using "Reproduction"
Please note that
- I have used different software including BasICColor etc. but the result is the same ('cause there isn't really much you have to do).
- DCP, the Colorchecker Passport, is NOT an option
- tweaking an existing profile within Capture One's Color Editor is a daily process but not up to this task.

Many thanks in advance

What if you have to send the from outside the US? What about the x-rays? How do you protect them?

Meanwhile, we found out that it seems also to be a bug in Vista 64bit.
Also the LEVELS tool is giving meaningless values in Windows 7 64 and Vista 64.

Hi,

I need help with these RGB values in Phase One's Capture One Pro advanced color editor. I do not understand at all what these values stand for! Which RGB model are they in? I thought, maybe C1 uses the output RGB model, which I leave at ProPhotoRGB. But that makes no sens here. Or maybe somehow the camera's space?

Let me give you some examples. I tried to understand the patches from the color checker RAW image.

"Dark Skin" patch gives me R83 G66 B51 (That makes maybe sens in ProPhotoRGB, which I use for output).
"Light Skin" patch reads R17 G15 B14 ???
"Red" is R13 G59 B39 ???
...

I 'm sure all this is easy, but I can't figure it out. Thanks in advance for your help.

Thank you Martin. I'll try that one.

Martin,

do you happen to actually use it?

-

Thank you Frank. That really does look interested. I looked up the Website and they say it supports my system. But has anybody tried to built two separate profiles and use them simultaneously, one for each monitor?

-

I don't follow anymore? How does the camera's resolution relate to print resolution?

-

I never heard about this Matrox external box, Frank. I am looking for something that has proven to work with win7 64 bit, two Flexscan 2233w Eizo monitors (2xDVI or 2xHDMI connections) for which I have to be able to build and use two independent and simultaneously working profiles. Is it able to do that? DO you actualy use it in a similar setup?

-

William,
Thank for your advice. I had a look at your card. It seams you do have one analogue and one digital connection. Is this correct? Do you get a good match between the two monitors and to your prints?

The shop around the corner sells a Gainward GT 220 with 1GB DDR3 ? Its cheap and you might use two digital exits at the same time. One DVI and one HDMI, which I would use with an adapter to make it an other regular DVI?!

Hi,
I have two monitors, Eizo 2233W, on win 7 64bit. I am editing and printing photos. Which card should I chose, that allows me to calibrate the two monitors correctly?

Jeff,
In fact, I would have enough resolution and Phase One's Capture One does 720ppi and even a lot more, and all ppi#s in between. I'll experiment with that, though till now I thought that 720ppi was not suited for photos but more for graphic.
