I use a rubber band, preferably a color not normally found on a lens, like green. I tell everyone it's a new line of L+ lenses. Should they ask the difference, I show them.

Here's another article from Rob on CF speed that uses a 7D.

Do you have a question about a specific function or all the whole Auto-Focus settings?

A little dated, but very informative http://robgalbraith.com/bins/content_page.asp?cid=7-10044-10297

Mine has one too, looks lie it's supposed to be there

The latest contains all the previous fixes, so you just upgrade once to the latest version (1.2.5).

If you go in the Flash Control menu, Built-in Flash control and set the Wireless Function to external-only (the option below Disable), the built-in flash will trigger the 430, but not interfere with your exposure.

You might want to pick an area you want to explore and from that, you can determine what equipment you may need. For instance, do you prefer portraits, landscape, or macro? Portrait and macro will benefit from external flash, so learning how to use flash(es) wirelessly would benefit both of thee types of photography.
My first recommendation would be a good tripod/head and remote shutter release because these tools are invaluable to all types of photography.

I do not think you will be able to see an increase in image quality going from 12MP to 18MP unless you are printing very large.

As Michael mentions, try adding a strong foreground element and get up close and personal.

San Disk 'Ultra' are fast enough for video in the 7D.

I think you're approaching this a little backwards. I'd suggest determining what focal ranges you may like or need, then decide on what you can afford.

I would think it would fetch in the high $200, maybe low $300's if you're lucky. This is based on posts on other forums. I own an XSi which I might be selling soon, so I've been researching prices.

I don't know where you buy your 7D's, but my experience is they go for ~$1500 for the body. If they were $600, I'd own two :-) Did you mean $600 additional?

I put about 5K miles a year on my BMW motorcycle and where I go, my camera goes. I keep the body and several spare lenses in a Lowepro 100 sling, which is carried in hard saddlebags. I've been doing this for years without incident.
I would think a small padded case would work fine.
