The lens has quite a bit of mold, you can see it fairly well by just looking at it. The camera is an olympus om-1n.

Well i'd just be starting out into photography. So pretty much just a good general use slr.

I dont have a lot of money to spend, but was just wondering what the best bang for your buck in the dslr field would be?

-

I purchased a camera as is and while everything seems to be in working condition, there is mold on the mirror and the lens. I'm considering buying a new lens all together because its pretty infested but will the mold spread from the mirror to the new lens?

Can people include some example prices for work done by john hermanson?

I recently purchased an OM-1 that probably needs the traditional CLA, (shutter speeds adjusted, light seal replaced, cleaning, possible meter fixing)? I don't have a ton of money who can do a good job the cheapest?

I think the lens has quite of bit of mold in it. The mirror has stuff around its edges and maybe a little mold i'm not sure. I was gonna try to clean the lens and see how the pictures turn out. If they don't turn out well i'll probably just invest in another lens. How much does stuff on the mirror affect the picture quality?

So i've finally purchased my first classic slr film camera, Olympus OM-1n. It was a decent value on ebay with everything seeming to work. The only thing is that the lens is smudgy externally and dusty internally. What is the best way to clean the lens, viewfinder, and if possible the mirror?

What exactly is mirror lock as in how is it advantageous and how important is it? Also does the OM-1 have it?

So i'm still searching for my first manual camera and in my last post it seemed that the srt102 was the main choice. On ebay currently the number of 102's are pretty sparse while the amount of OM-1's and srt101's are quite numerous. So i was wondering which would be a better camera including feature, lens and prices?

So basically from looking at all the diff suggestions the best, at least in my position, would be Minolta SRT either 102 or 202 due to the presence of split screen focusing and the Olympus OM1 due to it being all mechanical. I've also heard that the Pentax MX is more of a competitor than the K1000, should the MX be considered with the ones i've mentioned? If all three are the same quality it will probably break down to availability and pricing on ebay.

Do I need to be picky about which Minolta SRT or Olympus OM i get or is any version ok?

I didn't really have pure mechanical as a limitation, as long as its fully manual. I think i'd probably prefer purely mechanical but if that plays a big factor its not a big deal either way. I dont really know how big an issue the battery thing is, if i have to replace an obscure battery a lot then that might not be ideal. What lenses go with each type of camera? I know the Minolta has Rokkor lenses but i dunno about the rest?

Your suggestions are helpful. I mainly mentioned the K1000 because its one i've commonly heard for starting photography. I'm not really locked between those two, but mainly searching for good camera suggestions so the more recommendations the better. The lenses i'll mainly plan on using is the general multiuse lenses like the 50mm but i would enjoy an affordable variety eventually.

I've always had an interest in 35mm film photography but have yet to buy an slr camera. I've researched these two a lil bit but I am open to other suggestions. Price does play an important part in the camera but i don't wanna sacrifice on quality. Pentax, Minolta, and Olympus seem to be available for reasonable prices and not stuck in the collectible price hikes like Nikon or Canon but i'm lost amongst the variations. Your recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Are there any bargain dslrs?
