1.
I appreciate the response, but it points to the cognitive problem I am having -- I know the procedures to setup, but I don't know where this "adjustment" is. I know the Function setting to get to micro focus, but what exactly do I do to "adjust" the camera?

Uising your words: then adjust your point in the MFA menu, and take another picture, and repeat, until you have a setting which gives you images with the center of the target (or wherever you are aiming the center AF point) in perfect focus.

What do you mean adjust the pint and how do I know which way and how much to adjust?

 2.
I have read some articles and watched a YouTube video and am still baffled by one step in the process of calibrating the focus on lenses with my 50D.
They all say to take several photos, starting with Live View. They then say use AF and take phones +10, zero or -10. Where do those numbers come from?
Later it says to match the AF photo to the Live View.
Huh? I'm really unclear on where on the camera this is getting done.
Any help? Thanks!

 3.
I am looking for a new soft camera bag to replace the ancient Tamrac bag I have now. My old bag is about 12 x 9 x 9. My problem with it is that some items need to be stored underneath panels or other items, so access becomes a juggling match when I am in the field.
Here are my requiresments:
1. I'm not climbing Mt. Everest with this, but I like quality, sturdiness and easy access
2. I want a bag that allows me to store lenses vertically so I can slip them in an out of the pocket easily.
3. Shoulder bag, not a backpack.
4. I have two camera bodies, three lenses (one mounted) and a Speedlite 580 flash.
Price range? New/used within $100.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

 4.
I have Live View enabled.

Again, when I first bpught the camera, it always had Live View on. I did not even know there was an option to display data on the LCD. I had the camera sitting on a table; the next day I picked it up, it was only showing data.
Any help?

 5.
When I started up my new 50D today, the LCD screen was showing data, not the Live View (TTL) view. Now that I know it is there, I actually like it, however, I cannot get it to go back to the Live View mode.

I pressed the button that looks like a camera on the top left of the back, but it does not change the view.
What am I doing wrong?

 6.
I have read dozens of articles and posts on how to use flash (on and off camera) for fill flash, but i am still confused. If you look at the attached photos, you will see the problems I am having.
Here is where I am still lost:
1. Do I use manual or TTL for the flash? (550EX on a 7e or 50D body). If manual, how do I know where to set the flash? If TTL (as in the example), how do I keep the flash from washing out the top of the subjects when the flash is bounced off the ceiling.
2. I am confused on FEC. If I step my flash down (1/2, 1/4, etc.) in manual mode, is that a half stop reduction in light output? If in TTL, how do I manage that from the camera and does that affect both the ambient light reading and the flash, or just the flash?

I hope this is clear enough. Thanks for any help.

 7.
A 50D II is way out of my price range, but thanks for raising the option. I just got the 50D so I'm good with that. My lenses are all Canon -- tele zoom, mid-zoom and my 17-40. I will continue to use the latter on my film 7e since I know those kinds of shots are ones I will plan out in advance.
Thanks for all the help.

 8.
I have an intriguing opportunity to trade in my 7n for a 50D at a good price.
Here is the question(s):
I don't want to reinvest in a bunch of new lenses. Do my current AF lenses work with the 50D? Also, one of me favorite creative lenses is my 17-40 zoom. I know I will lose some of the wide-angle view going to digital. but I don't want to spend the $$ right now to get a true super wide angle for the digital. Will the 17-40 still offer some drama in a digital set-up?
Also, one of the reasons I stayed with film for a while is that I liked the resolution and assumed it would be hard to match that in digitial. the 50D is 15M -- is that roughly equivalent to what I get today shooting ASA200 with my 7n?
Thanks for any help. I know it is time to move on to digital, but I just want to make sure I have a clear view.

 9.
Sorry, must be me in a fog, but I'm still not understanding what to do.
I have the manual, but i cannot seem to connect the jargon with what I am trying to do.

I want to focus and set the flash metering on a subject in the foreground, but recompose the shot so the subject is off to the side, but still properly exposed and focused.
I am very confused about custom function, the so-called * button, the FEL, etc.

Thanks for your patience and further help.

 10.
I have a 7n with 580 Speedlite. I am having problems getting a good flash exposure in dark settings when the subject is not in the center of the frame. Some of the photos (singer in a nightclub) are the singer on stage, but I want to catch the crowd or the rest of the stage, so the singer is usually not in the center.
I have the camera set on full program and focus and lock (press shutter halfway down) on the singer, then recompose the shot to where the singer is usually on the left or right third of the frame.
Doing it this way, my singer is over-exposed, as if the camera is trying to read the whole room.
What can I do to fix this? Is there a way to use a different camera setting that will allow a focal point on the right or left of center but still give me a good program flash mode?

Thanks for any help.

 11.
I used my Canon 7n with a 17-40 mm lens and Canon 550EX flash last night at a dinner party.

The shots are terrible. All of the flash pictures are totally washed out but the flash.

I had the camera set on the green square for full auto. The flash power switch on on SE (instead of whatever the middle position is).

Help!
