    <p>Well I guess, you get what you paid for. Hope mine will last longer. If the damage is at the foot, I think you can fix it by making the hole bigger, cut new thread and insert a reducer. Glue the thread and it could be better and stronger than original.</p>

    <p>Thanks Peter J. Just ordered one and see what happened; hopefully it fits. The one for 100 mm/2.8 and 100 mm/2.8 L/IS is supposed to be different. I don't mind to risk $12.99. B&H and Adorama charges too much for shipping. I live in Canada.</p>

    <p>I am looking for an alternative to original Canon Tripod Lens Collar for my 100 mm f/2.8 L macro. I don't feel justified to spend $285.00 Cdn plus tax for a lens collar. Any suggestions? can't find on e bay either. Thanks.</p>
