  1. <p>I'm using an Epson V750 pro, Vuescan pro 8.6, and a betterscanning MF holder. <br>

    When scanning images that have deeper shadows, I keep getting blotchy, black/blue/green pixelated areas where there should be some detail. In the image below, there is detail visible in the negative in those areas. Brightening doesn't seem to have any effect. Any ideas about that, and what that streak could be?</p>

    I think it was pointed out not too long ago that that test wasn't an accurate measurement of camera/lens performance. The 24-120mm isn't a particularly good lens, and shouldn't be used to judge how capable the D700 is. You are right in saying that the D300 does have higher resolution.</p>

     

  3. <p>Bruce - I would expect Canon lenses to focus faster than most everything else, because Canons prioritize release over exact focus</p>

    <p>I'm a Nikon person. I would go with the 80-200mm 2.8 ED. Nikon lenses tend to be built better and hold their value, if you ever decide to sell it in favor of something else.</p>
