Thank you for your comment.  I have only just seen your comments. 

This is a fantastic camera for its price range.  It is not too heavy, very compact, also takes really good movies.  I am very very impressed with the 20 times optical zoom.  There isn't anything I do not like about this camera.  I would however, like to get a SLR with lenses that can be changed in the future.

I have just posted up a wasp photo which I took today with this camera and I am very impressed.

Thank you for your critique.  I appreciate it.  This image is not cropped at all.  I have been aiming to get the bird in focus and the background out of focus as I like this effect.  The bird is standing on a rock, but, yes a whale would have been good.  I have a lovely close up picture of the bird, which i'll upload now if you would like to see it.  Lear is not a common surname. We could be distantly related somewhere along the line.
