Unfortunately I thought it was a good idea to open up the bayonet. when I went to put it back together again the aperture no longer clicks in between settings. Maybe I can just use this lens as a way to learn about how they work lol.

Okay... I made a video of it. Sorry about the messy dorm room!! >.<
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJxw0MrYa1E

Thanks... in that case I think I might look to pick up a Pentax made Zoom lenses. Thank you all for your support and advice!

-

No... it just stops suddenly. It cannot be turned any further and I used a good amount of force (afraid to try as hard as I can). As far as the protruding pin it's hard to tell but it seems to be JUST about the same length as the one in my Pentax lens...

-

So the screws being too tight could do it?? I'll test this and report back... also I don't have a teleconverter or an extension tube. I don't even know what those are! I'm new to all of this lol o__o

SO rereading what you wrote and my response I'm guessing the levers not matchign up exactly when at the same f/stop is a problem??? And maybe why it isn't fitting?? Should I try and adjust it?? Maybe I'll just expose of this and buy s SMC Zoom lens :/

-

Well the lever DOES move when I switch the aperture. When I put both lens to f/22 they seem to be in the same position basically only the Makinon one not as far down. (if that makes any sense) When I set it to f/22 and try to put it on still no luck. I am afraid to use a lot of force because I do not wan to break my camera. The lens ok... but the camera I think I'd cry D: If it IS bent is there anyway I can identify where and if I can do that any way to fix it???

Sooo I may have just figured it out lol... I compared that circled portion to my other lens and it's not supposed to be stuck there!!! D: This makes me happy because I should be able to fix it! Only I'm afraid I might break it trying to force it over... any suggestions???

I've been wondering if maybe this circled part could be jammed??? idk... I'm going to try and mess with it then if it shuold definitely fit!

Idk... I can get my other lens to snap in fine.. but not this one. it fits in and then when I try to turn it won't go all the way. Maybe something is jammed?? I'm posting some pics of the bayonet... not the best but I have to use my camera phone...

When I bought my K10000 on Ebay it came with two lenses. A standard 50mm SMC and a Makinon 80-200mm Zoom/Macro Lenses. Both were said to fit my K1000 perfectly the SMC of course did but The Makinon Lenses I have never been able to screw in all the way. Now I'm wondering if I as tricked but it doesn't matter to me... I just want to be able to use the lens instead of having to buy another one. It says PK near the base... which I would think should make it compatible. So now... I want to know maybe what kind of adapter could allow me to use it on my K1000 I've been searching the internet but I can't be sure. Also I've searched for lenses JUST like mine and have seen it being showed to fit a K1000 as well. I have no idea what I could be doing wrong? If anyone could help I would appreciate it.

I am posting pictures of the lenses if it helps.

I have a Pentax K1000 that I bought not too long ago. With it I have a SMC Pentax-M 1:2 50mm lens. When I first got the camera and would change the aperture on the lens when it was locked into the camera I could see the eye opening and closing. Also, when looking through the viewfinder I would be able to see more or less light being allowed in as I adjusted it. Recently I've noticed that when I lock the lens in this no longer happens. When I take the lens off and adjust it the eye opens and closes like it should, but every time I lock it back into the body it's stuck wide open once again. I would really like to find out what the issue is because I'm eager to start taking shots. Is it a lens problem or is it the body? How do you fix this? I appreciate any help I can get.

Hi. I'm from Stratford, CT. and I currently go to school in Springfield, MA. I'm interested in music, art, film, photography, and tech. I really like most all photography but I especially gravitate towards social photography, or anything that depicts emotion to me. I want to learn how to become efficient with a camera and also learn specific techniques such as bokeh and double exposure. I just recently bought a Pentax K1000. It is my first camera. I'm looking to get a Nikon d40 next. I currently cannot use my Pentax due to problems with the lens, which after this I will look for the appropriate place to post a question about that haha. Nice to meet you all.

I'm new to photography myself. I Love to look at great shots on the internet and I was always excited to make my own. I used to become frustrated however with the price of DSLR's and I had all but given up deciding it was just much too expensive for me to take on. But as I'm always on the net and I know some amateur photographers I expressed how I felt to one of them and she told me to go film. It was shocking to me cause I had always assumed all of her photos were digital, including her double exposures. I had no idea those type of things could be done with film. She told me to get the same camera she did for her first, a Pentax K1000. It's a solid camera, all manual though so you'll have to learn about what you're doing, but it's absolutely great. Many people will tell you they are great camera's and will do just about anything you need given you learn how to use it. I bought my Pentax in December used on Ebay for $100!!! And it came with 2 lens, and it works just great. Film is also still a popular medium for many people. I would say this is a great cheap way to start out with photography. Give it a go.
