    Over the course of 36 hours,

    Harlan Overlike photographed fourteen committed couples in one

    Chicagoland motel room. This essay brought a variety of people and

    situations into view for Harlan. His goal was to remove the familiar

    creature comforts that surround us all, and photograph the couples

    in an assortment of ways. By removing these distractions, Overlike

    was able to focus on the couples alone without material objects to

    dictate their union. Every inch of the motel room was utilized for

    the portraits of the fourteen life-partners.

     

    Harlan created a three-minute video presentation entitled "Motel

    Confessions - Commitment: Volume One" - which is available at

    This image just happened during the shoot. She picked up the dog and it was a moment that I had to get on film. Kumi is a well known fetish model and I like that I caught her soft side. The autographed version of the print is available on my site ;) www.overlike.com
