Very different distances :) 50ft is only 15 meters... The think for me is only to use the eos utility to fire the camera. Transfer files is not priority. Thank you both.

Thnk you Scott And what about the range? How distante could be the laptop and the camera/WFT-E5?

-

I have a (maybe silly) question: If I use a WFT-E5 in a remote area, without internet acess, can I use the EOS Utility on my computer to trigger the 7D?

Thank You once more, Ralph! I think the PAR64 with a car battery could be a good solution. I will check this one. I dont know nothing about that matter, but I think it will give enough power for my proposes. Battery life is not a big issue too, because I only want to make small shorted time clips at a time.

Thank you Ralph, very clear :)
Have you (or someone here) experience about infrared?

-

Thank you Craig! I will see that too. :)

thank you once more... I will see this ones...

Thank you Michael! I have one similar to this one, but 9V, and it is cumbersome to use. I thought there were other kind of things, like the ones they used some years ago for weddings and stuff...

I am new to that kind of scenario... I want to make some videos with a river otter in almost complete darkness, like the one on the photo: http://www.barrento.com/2011/07/30/lontra-lutra-lutra/ here I used a flash Canon 580EX, the subject was about 8 to 10 meters away; now I want a continuos light to use with a 300mm f/2.8 in a Canon 7D... the lights I saw when I googled, are LEDs that are not power enough (I think...)

Thx! General use, mounted on tripod. Distance? The farther the better: wildlife "oblige"

-

What light do you use for wildlife HD SLR video? Strong, portable and lightweight... is there any?

-

Thank you both :) For now I will stay with the Rode videomic...

Hi John, thx. I did do a lot of research, but my english is not famous, lol, and people are always talking with abreviations or slang, and they tend to talk as experts with other experts people, wich is not my case.
I saw lots people saying that they buy this microphone... same say that they use it alone, conected to the camera, and some say they uses also a Zoom H1 or H4. What do you think about using Rode videomic and H1?
Thank you once more

-

Thanks to both of you! I think I will buy the Rodemic mono...

-

OK: I saw there are two, the PRO version is strereo, but it is cardioid, not a shotgun as the mono version is. What should I buy for wildlife (distante subjects)?

Hello, does anyone uses the Rode VideoMic for filming wildlife with DSLR (7D in my case) and is it a stereo mic? I have heard it is and it is not.
Thanks

I started making videos with Canon 7D and use a Manfrotto tripod with head for photography. This is not the best because, when tightening or loosening the knobs causes vibration in the camera. What video head don you use?

And what software for editing videos?

Thanks

one month and zero answers!... :(

Hi,
What video software do you use to editing the canon 7D videos? Is there a free good one? I want to cut and add captions...
thanks

Thanks once more. They have the species on site (plants, fungai, ...). It is not far. Some are not easy to find (salamander) but I have on stock.
The photos are for an exibition for kids from school. It is about environmental education.
I never have sold photos for an exibition, or did some shoot for the same reason... that is why I am asking for help.

-

Thanks Park Street,
They "dont pay" because this is new for then. The time involved I dont exactly, and the expenses are not very high (I live near the place)

-

A company linked to the environmental education wants to make an exibition on biodiversity. They want me to photograph certain species, and they want to know how much do I charge by day or by photo. Which should I choose, day or photo? And what about prices?
Thanks
