  1. I, too, am a big fan of ebay and I have purchased way too many items there. I have a complete RB67 system, a Bronica ETRS system, and many collectable cameras that I would not have were it not for ebay. I have only had three problems. 1) I bought a Canon F1n and I did not get the model I had expected but it was totally my mistake. I resold it and got what I had paid for it. 2) I bought a Polaroid back for a Mamiya RB67. It did not have a dark slide; I should have checked before I bid. I fashioned one using stock sheet brass from the local hardware store. 3) I sold a Tokina zoom lens to a lawyer in Canada. He thought there as too much play in the "push-pull" zoom and wanted his money back plus shipping both ways. He sent a really long email with all sorts of threatening statements accusing me of running a scam. I sent him what he requested as soon as I could get to the post office (international money order for the price of the lens plus 2 shipping charges). What a jerk, but I wanted to be sure my excellent ebay rating remained intact.

I think the key is to check the ebay ratings, read between the lines in the text, look at the photos carefully, ask the seller questions when you first see the item, realize that statements grading the equipment are usually exagerated.

  2. While I agree with all the responses about why people like MF, I will never give up my 35mm for some purposes. Perhaps I am too easily entertained but I just like shooting MF. I like the way it loads (slowly and complicated sometimes), I like the way it handles (heavy and no zoom lenses), and I like the way it makes me THINK more about the image! MF will never be perfect for all situations but it sure is fun!
  3. While these entries are not directly "on topic" they do show that many of us use our photographic knowledge in different ways. I watched the Fox broadcast thinking it would be good for a laugh but I was surprised at the seemingly large amount of "evidence" of a hoax. These discussions, plus the web sites linked above, educated me and convinced me we did go to the moon. It is a pity that millions of children, some of whose parents were not even alive in 1969, will always have doubts about this most wonderful achievement of mankind. Fox got their ratings and did their damage...... and they don't care a bit. Keep up the good work group!
