I have a phone appointment with her now. Her last email stated that she needs 3 or 4 pictures for her website.

-

Yes, Kevin, your right. I don't have enough information. She told me on the phone that she needed them for a few uses. This what she wrote in the email:
"need 3 or 4 of your great shots that show deck and the view. I don’t even need the bride in all of them: I want to “sell” the deck for all kinds of occasions. Anniversaries, reunions etc."
I will be speaking to her today, I was hoping to get some opinions on a ball park amount.

http://www.Bludomain.com has the best prices out there and you would own your own site, with several styles to choose from starting at $50 bucks. They just launched a new on the will be $50 for this week and only $50 to host for the year. It will go up a little you can't beat any of their prices. I am leaning on using my word press blog more because it's better for SEO. (Search Engine Optimization) You can choose a blog too. "Pro Photo Blogs" good stuff.

I shot a Wedding on Martha's Vineyard last summer the venue contacted me to see they could purchase 3-4 images for their own promotional use. I don't know what to charge them. This wedding and my images were featured in a magazine in England in an article about Destination Weddings.

Yes Bob, I'm sure your right. I've been working on that. So what has been the standard for decades?Commission on photographer's fee or entire package.

Thanks, I'm happy to pay a "referral fee. I just wondered how much and on what? I was told 15%. If I pay 15% on the package, it really cuts into any profit I may or may not make. Packages are product and service. Service is one thing and at 15%, not a bad fee. Just wondering what the norm. is.

If a venue wants to charge a kick back for referring you, what is the going rate? And is it on the photography service fee or the entire package. Is this legal?

Thank you Karl. I used roller blade the loops (I think 3 mile and 7 mile) 15 years ago but the memories were escaping me. It may all come back to me once there. Have a great weekend.

John, no time for Coney Island. Thanks again everyone. The couple ordered a car service and we have about 45 minutes to 1 hour in the Park before we have to be back up town to meet the Bridal Party. Now I'm trying to figure out how to travel as light as possible and still have everything I need for a 10 hour day. I think I can manage this. :)

Thank you all so much! This is all very helpful!

I'm shooting a wedding tomorrow at Columbia University and the couple want to go to Central Park for a few portraits. They want something in the park with that also shows them in NYC with the buildings in the back round. I used to be familiar with the w72 street area. Isn't there a little bride there? Where is the best place to shoot? We are already on the West Side and of course the time line is tight. Thanks, Josie

I just switched over to a MAC (finally) and I loaded up my Adobe Lightroom 2 and Photoshop CS5. All my work is on external hard drives and I wanted to finish two weddings on the MAC that I had started in LR on the PC but apparently the previous changes that I made aren't there when I open the program now on the MAC. I reformatted an external Hard Drive to MAC and then copied the folders over to that hard drive. The folders open but without the changes. Does anyone know if I have a chance here to recover the work I already did? My PC crashed or I would finish the work there and start my new jobs on the MAC.

Anyone know how prints look on BRI "art" paper?

-

Thanks Alan,
I just ordered a 12x12 today because when I inquired which paper I should order for a guest book, I was told to order "art paper" and the 14x11 horitontal doesn't come with the "art" paper. Which paper do you order to write on? I wish I read your reply earlier. I would have ordered the 14x11. I'm sure the 12x12 will be great too.

Thank you!!!
I have looked at Black River Imaging. The cover looks cheap in the picture but I like what I see in the page layout. Does the cover look plastic? I just looked at Finao and registered. They look really nice.
