  1. Hi Betty,

cos i love the beach your picture is catching me.

However, did you try to crop it in a different way? Less of the blurry background, what is not adding/enhancing the idea, for me in your pic?

Trying to keep the eye on the interesting parts, like the lines of the sand, the little water tunnels, the shadow...

Dont know if this is any help for you?

really good shot! and a perfect title, saw it first without, and first impression was, it looks like a tree, coming out, reaching out for the sky...or whatever!

I like the different earthy color shades, the composition, how my eye is directed to explore where the tree is heading to!

    Great!

awesome done, the color, the composition within, and of course the eyes!

To dive in...trying to find out whats happening in her life/eyes ;-) cheers, cool to see portraits like this, different, with style, fresh, ...

  2. Hi, don't really know what u mean with scanner of a film?

However, its just an reflection or mainly a reflection - and what looks at the bottom of it blurry, it would be in the original shot another part of the escalator in the foreground. What i didnt like to keep/to show, cos it would have been less open for the imagination of the observer - i tried to get rid of the "realistic" things...

And yes, due to i still like to work with analog, the negative was scanned in - bit cropped, but thats it!

    Cheers for your comment :-)

    Hi,
i think to choose this picture for discussion was quite a good move, i like the idea of this forum.
    Ok better some comments now.

I dont get the idea of it, the picture for me is pretty much divided by this complete different surfaces, somehow this is disturbing, cos it feels like having a look into 2 pictures, what on the other hand makes it quite attractive, captive too!
As not belonging to each other, but still one.
The ice part for me is too bright, not giving the "brushed like water" the attention it could get, however, maybe thats the intention...?
This brightness, with hardly any graduate shading stands out and depending how i look at it, its irritating or its the only thing i like to look at.
Another part for me, the whole picture, all lines going down, and im always ending up at the right bottom of it, where nothing catches my eye again. But this is possibly again the intention of the artist?

  3. ;-)

    Ja, es ist eine flechte...

hm? it jumped on me, cos its like "even if the truck isnt running anymore, it found a different approach for his existing".

    Bit of how Life is....

    Its an very interesting idea!

This picture, but also you project.

For this one, i like how you could be able to get it out of "perspective" - means, are this 2 persons within an additional "trap" for others to watch! Great! Funny!

That shot is powerful - transporting a feeling!

    "The future i wouldnt choose".

I hardly see something for improvement here,

maybe i would put it in the category "journalism", if it was not made up.

But is it fine art, indeed!

    Thanks Arjen for your comments.

Its been an "on the go" shot, means from the angle i could take the picture, there wasn't any possibility to help the lightning (watching a soft ball game, trying to focus while heaps was going on, hardly a free view to even get it). That applies also for the black - its pretty much the pic i took, only i cropped it on the left - what u mentioned anyway.

I guess that might also explain why it is a bit blurry - what i used to help my idea of it.

Why i cut the ball? Again to help my idea about it - but i agree, fine art is not always easy to comment on - but every comment is interesting for my, especially to figure out if the idea is working for the "observer".

    I appreciate your critique, thx.

    Hi,

its for me a really good shot - balance of lines (B&W) aswell as where there black and white areas are put.

My eye is wandering through the whole pic, thats what i like about an interesting shot.

Just one little disturbance - on the left bottom, where its getting nearly a bit too messy (hope thats a correct word to explain it?).

THanks for sharing, its always a pleasure to find beautiful done shots!

    Hi,

i love the idea of your picture, and the composition, greyscale, where you using pretty much black...the flow to light grey, finishing again with darker grey.

I just wonder, if a bit more contrast would underline the idea?

Thanks for a real good "nude" image!!!!!

    Hi,

i didnt want to critque the one you put in, cos even the basic picture might be a bit bring.

I suppose this one here, could be a real good one, but just using photoshop or whatever, false color image doenst help me seeing the picture at all.

Would be nice to see some REAL work.

  4. WOW, sh...really really cool picture - possibly something for the category "fine art", cos the picture gives a emotion to the observer, expressing a feeling, wherein the "reality/capture" is only a part.

The "WOW' effect for me is certainly triggered by its feeling!

    BEAUTIFUL!

    Somehow a really interesting pic.

Colored blocks are in a good balance to keep my eye within the picture.

A bit less of the branches would be more catching for me, as it is, its hard to find, for me, a clear composition (reducing it for myself into lines).

Its a bit restless, too much going on, still something is catching me.

Hope that makes sense for you as an feedback?
