  1. One night my husband and I decided to go for a little drive. We ended up at Brighton State Beach. It was dusk and there weren't many people around at the time. At first it seemed like any other evening walk on the beach. My son was enjoying the freedom of being able to just run around and explore. All of a sudden the few birds that were there were joined with thousands of birds that seemed to come out of no where. We were surrounded! The food supply must have been plentiful to cause such a frenzy. The birds zipped and zoomed, dived and splashed all around us as the surface of the ocean was blanketed in blackness. My son just stood there in amazement at the site. It was exciting and terrifying at the same time!

    Morning Light

Resting in the morning light through the back window is one of my dog Kati's favorite things to do. On this particular morning as I was watching her rest so peacefully I was reminded of how much I liked to do this same thing as a little girl. I loved to snuggle up on the couch and sleep in until I was awakened by the warm light through the window as it shone on my face. It made me smile and I decided that it was the perfect time for me to practice. It had been just over a month since I purchased my first DSLR and I was eager to learn. I was still figuring out the differences between aperture and shutter speed and their relationship together. I took several photos that morning trying different things. This one is my favorite.

    Guess how many

I like the color contrast here. The bright oranges against the blue is very appealing. Also, I like the sense of movement. Since there is no focal point your eyes are left wandering around the image, which is exactly what it's like looking into an aquarium full of fish. :)

    Color Screen

This is a reflection of the tree and lights on the television screen.

I wanted to experiment with long exposure. I've only made a few

attempts with long exposure so any tips or advice is greatly appreciated.

This is a beautiful capture. I really love the colors. Especially the contrast between the body and the base of the wings and the rest of the photo. Thanks for sharing!
