1. Hi Irwin,

I am also pretty new at this. For quite a while I was tray processing

my Tri X. Probably due to my inexperience my results were okay, but

sometimes I got scratches. Very recently I decided to find an

alternative that I could do in the light. Here is my solution..

Bought a Unicolor motor base for $20. And a Jobo tank with 2 4x5

reels (6 sheets each reel) for $45.

Unless I were to spend many hundreds more, I could not find a better

solution to my needs. These tanks if rotated need much less

chemicals. And why not buy a motor base if you can pick it up cheap.

Look at ebay there are some good ones going cheap.

I'm glad I spent some time tray processing to learn the basics. But

my results are already much better and more consistant.

    Good luck,

  2. Many thanks to all who helped. Especially Sean for sending me the

    article.

The more I learn from you guys the more I understand that pictures

like these are created more out of the relationship between subject

and photographer, and the unique skill and artistry of the person

behind the lens. And not some magical film/camera combination etc.

    Thanks,

    Claudia

  3. Hello everyone,

A friend and I are trying to find any details on the methods used by this photographer. We need to locate the above article quickly. If anyone has a back issue and can send me any details (film/developer etc.) I would be so grateful.

Here is a site that has some of his work..

If the article does not contain any details, can someone tell by looking at the pictures how this look/tone was created.

    Thank you,

    Claudia.

  4. This will be my first time in changing the developement. For one particular neg I need to reduce dev by 30 per cent. If I do this to the time I will go well under 5 mins and the kodak paper warns of uneven dev. Can I reduce the HC110 strength by 30% and keep the same time. I will be tray processing Tri-X in HC110-Dil B.

Also on a general note, if I prewash my negs in water do I have to adjust the dev time. I want to prewash because I was told it helps in getting even developement of the neg.

    Thank you for any help.

As you can see, I am new at this!
