1.
I ordered the 85 1.4G on Feb 8th from J&R as my card had 5% promo + 5% cash back.. but Lens has been back ordered since. B&H has it back ordered too.

Looks like Nikon is doing well with the rebates, but should now start manufacturing them fast too :D

 2.
Shun - yes, LR "should not" pick up the dupes, but it does for 99% of the images.. one from each card.

Joe - yes, I have that option picked up but dupes still get picked. That option works well in not picking up the images next time I connect but for the same session it picks up both copies.

Rodeo Joe - It's not teh price of the card readers, I hate to take my SD cards in and out, given it's mechanical action I just don't like doing it that way :) Hence was looking for LR solution.

I was hoping someone here with D7000 / D600 would be able to help as both have dual SD card slots, which is a great idea but dupes drive me crazy :D

 3.
I have had D7000 since it was released, and now have D600.

Given both of these have 2 SD card slots that I use as a backup (pics gets copied on both) while shooting, but have had this issue in Lightroom since beginning.. I want to see and transfer pics from only one of the SD cards - say Card 1, an not see and then have to uncheck each and every pic again in Lightroom.. it's very annoying. At the moment I have started pushing one of the cards out at the time of transfer and personally hate to have to do it.. I would rather keep both cards in, and have Lightroom 4 show me only one of the cards's pics.

Appreciate any help.

 4.
I can confrim price drops for various lenses at Adorama, Amazon, B&H and J&R as I ahd ordered Nikkor 85mm 1.4 G from J&R 10 days ago, but still backordered..
My price for the backordered lens was very graciously adjusted down by J&R... but the lens seems extremely backordered on various websites and stores.
I know I am being impatient but why short produce / supply the classic 85 1.4 G !!

 5.
Steve - I was in your state, and mine from Adorama was also 306xxxx spots started showing up at f5.6 and without needing any enhancement on LR as some posts suggest on the web. This happened after around 150 or so pics. On the upper left section of the pics .

Mine were 3 large sticky dirty spots.

I've exchanged mine at the NY store and the serial number now is 305xxx, I know backwards progression of serial numbers, but that is all they had in store, and the store experts said they have not received any camera back that was sold in the store ! So keeping my faith alive and will be clicking more pics soon with the replacement.

 6.
Shun - with due respect.. won't this work on any of the AF-A, S or C ? I thought only thing needed was sub dial selection to select "S"
I am sure I could be missing something.. hence asked :)

 7.
Thanks Apurva. I really can't afford the additional 1200 dollars to get D800 instead of the D600 (with teh 24-85 lens available with 128GB SD card) as I am just a hobbyist ;) I know that's just my problem and no one can really help me there.

One thing I do wonder is if the dust/oil issues of D600 will force Nikon to upgrade D600 to something else shortly and then I will be really mad at myself.

 8.
Apurva - have you had a chance to compare D600 vs D800 ? I am curious to know if D600 comes close to D800 as D600 is what I am looking at too.

I am coming from D7000 which still suffers from the backfocus issues for me :(

 9.
Jeff - did you ever send your camera for repairs ? And did you ever upgrade the firmware on camera ?
I am inclined to try what you suggested as I am getting frustrated by only one thing - lack of dependable focusing with D7000. I have tried different things but continue to still make D90 my dependable goto camera.. how ironic !

 10.
Shun - I think what Robert was looking for, as am I from your valuable expertise and experience is how do you shoot on D7000 to get. Do you use AF-C or AF-S, do you lock focus via half-press of shutter release etc?

 11.
Les - as my pics are of family subjects I do not feel comfortable posting it here, but I totally understand where you are coming from. Eric's reply has been extremely helpful. I do not see any test shots at all..:) as I never posted any.
I can actually post some pics of the static figurines. Any more details on "rigorous test procedure in which all variables besides the lens are removed" will be appreciated.

 12.
Eric - thank you for your detailed reply.
Yes, mine also rattles when I keep it lens vertical and have been so avoiding that now, but given that is the lense position in one of my bags I carry I guess I will need to change the bag ;)
And I have been testing some more yesterday just as you said, to ensure picking upa high contrats point, and results have been looking better, and then I read your reply and I was all :)
I wonder if it's a lens factor to be able to pick up contrasts differently ? as I don't see that as an issue with Nikon 35 1.8 and Sigma 50 1.4 but this one has it...

 13.
I am going to Sigma due to the price differential, but at USD 670 a pop this is not that cheap either, so would expect Sigma to at least focus where I want. I love my Sigma 50 mm 1.4 and that was the only reason I tried it again at all !!
When I did the cereal box focus test results were good, and I will be trying it out a bit more in next couple of days.
I am hoping that out pn community will have some more hands on experience on this glass also and will be able to hear more about this lense

 14.
I got this from AbesOfMaine last week and have been using it with Nikon D7000. http://www.abesofmaine.com/item.do?item=SG1750OSAFN
Still haven't been able to say if I ike the results or not, as I see two issues :
1. It seems to be focusing a little bit ahead (not behind) the subject. Like when I focused on my 2 yr old's eyes while he was doing something on laptop it focused on his arm as it was extended a bit and not on his eyes.. i was using it at f 2.8 sitting about 6 feet from him. I am using the manual focus point selection, then auto focus by using the AF-E/AF-L button.
2. I hear an occasional rattling inside the lens body when I keep it vertical (lens up). Is this normal ?

Anyone has any suggestions ?

In the past I tried tamron's 17-50 VC but returned that as it was just not cutting it. This Sigma lens is definitely picking up colors much better as well seems sharper, but I don't want to loose on being able to focus where I want.

 15.
"take note that the sigma takes a 72mm filter (if you use one) and the zoom ring turns the opposite direction."

Wow.. i would have never know that..

I am also considering something in 17 - 50 type of range.
