  1. I have both GS & GSW from Fuji & Mamiya 6 very similar to 7II. I travel a lot & use the Fuji two times more than the 6. The Fuji lenses are better & I think it has better handling are faster to work with. The lightmeter in M, is better as a compass than metring the light. Go for GSW. Not big and beutiful. Only big.

  2. I was just buying Roundshot VR 220. And getting the first resault in

360 degree photography. But......can anyone explane to me why on

planet earth I can use my Leica R lenses on that camera. Because the

format when I use 100 2.8 APO is 6 by 60 it less with wider lenses, 80

    1.4 is like 6 by 50, 35 1.4 is 6 by 25. But how can 35mm lens do the

    6. The 60 is by rotation on camera and film.

    All the best

  3. They are not in same length. I have 4 lenses, 65,115,180 & 300 and there is lot of differnse in size and wight. But one thing the have in common, all are very sharp. I have also GS & GSW in 6x9 by Fuji and GX617 with 4 lenses. I give the Fuji lenses highest ratings.

In 35mm I use Leica, and Fuji is as good. Then I have Mamyia 6 with 3 lenses and Fuji are better, special on full stop and against bright light.

The new Hasselblad Xpan has Fuji lenses of best qualty.

  4. I have had GX680II for three years. I

did test lot of cameras and even it is

havy..on tripod it does not matter. It+s

a strong well build camera, a friend of

mine have used type I and later III in

studio and is shooting a lot..no

problem for ten years. Same here it+s

strong camera who can take lot of

    work and abuse.

The lenses are very good, i have 50,

115, 180 and 300 it has been the same

lenses from they started the system

ten years ago the camera is similar

only the new back is differnt.

If you buy it you will have the best

SLR MF camera on the market. ( I

have 6 other types of MF cameras)

    Good luck

  5. I bought the xpan three weeks ago. As

    a traveling 35mm camera. I have

Leica, bouth the M6 and R6.2 and

bouth Linhof 612PCII and Fuji GX617.

    Perfect cameras but.....when you are

doing travelling stoeies in cities, you

need a handheld camera for candid

shots. It+s good camera for that. The

only problem with this camera is who

stupid I am. When I put the first film

in and the camera was on P....I saw i

had only 21 frames. Wrong DX on my

Velvia. Put another film in same

problem. I lookeed very strange and

said to my wife i got a new camera

with failure. She looked one moment

put the knob from P to normal and

    suddenly I had 36 frames.

  6. I have six differnt MF cameras.Hasselblad, Mamyia 6, Fuji 6x9 RF, Fuji GX680II, Linhof PC612PCII, and Fuji GX617. And I think I use the GX680 for more than half of my shooting. What kind of camera, on tripod, it4s not so bulky. It4s easier to use than RZ from Mamyia, faster to work with. I use the camera for all kind of works, travelling, fashion, outdoors and indoors. It4s very strong camera who can take lot of abuse. And more cold than i expected ( I live in Iceland). It4s the only camera you can adjust plane of focus, for 120/220. Even it has not the same abilities as view camera, you can work fast, and have 9/18 frames winded for you. The format is a tabloid size page.

The lenses as all Fuji lenses are superb.

So in short, a peferct camera.

I think GX680 has never been a big seller in USA, but what i know in the nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, and Finland) it4s a big seller.

  7. In july 1996 I got a GX680 with for lenses, why I had GX617 and the GSW GW 690 cameras and liked the lenses from Fuji. As good as my Linhof 612PC II or Leica. I was intresded to use the GX680II for traveling and lanscape. On my first day, middle of nowhwere i took the camera and lenses for a long walk. The day was perfect.....for Iceland, but suddenly a storm and rain came, i waited but in the end i gave up. When i was taking the camera form the tripod i droped it and broke the Angel finder and lost the focusing screen down 500 m birdcliff. But since then we have been good friends. On a good tripod, you can walk miles, and it have tilt and shift no other MF camera have. In Iceland it can bee often bellow zero, but the battery has been much stronger than i expected.

But next spring Fuji will come with 3th generation GX680. In two types one for traveling mutch lighter called GX680S III . That camera does not have tilt, shift and swing. The other is similar to II with same lenses almost.

For those who will have 6x8 and travelling really light i saw last week in Tokyo that they have started with GS and GSW680 III similar to 690 they still make. They have stopped doing 670.

  8. I have the GSW & GS690III cameras. The lenses are like 28 & 35 on M6. I have used Leica M6 since 1984, and 3 years ago i started to use Fuji. The lenses are as good as Leicas, but have a limeted life time of the shutter. But the price is so low on this cameras and it cost only about 500 DM to fix new after 6000 exposure. But to work with this cameras are almost similar to Leica. But the lenses protrude into the viewfinder. It4s a rangefinder. And no rangefinder camera in the world is good for closeups. But for landscapes it4s a very good cameras.

I have been photographer for 16 years and never ever looked at the DOF scale. At infinity it does not matter. But MF camers has a lot shallower DOF than 35mm. But the booklet ho came with the cameras the have a long list of DOF for people who are intrested. But it4s a great camera for landscape and traveling.

    All the best

  9. I would say. Fuji GX680II, why it4s the only MF camera you can tilt, shift and rise, like a big brother, but have the handling of a MF camera. The lenses are superb. If you are mostly for landscape I would use Mamyia 6 or 7. Pentax 67 does have a mirror who shake all pictures into blurrrr. Gooood luck.

  10. I have heard that Fuji has come with a new SLR camera GX680 III. It4s only two years since GX680 II came. Has anybody some info about this camera, and the new lenses who will come. Can you use the same filmmagazine etc.

  11. I have Linhof technorama PCII . It4s much better camera than the Horseman. It has new lenses like 58mnm f:5.6. And it4s lightyears better than your Nikon with 20mm. + you can use it handheld like the Horseman. But if you take longer format like 6x17 you always has to use tripod. I have also Fuji 6x9 very good cameras and lenses

    ps

  12. I have Fuji GX680II with 5 lenses. And use it a lot. In landscape, cityscape, fashion.....all. It4s havy. But the lenses, and what the camera can do, forgive all that. The lenses are very good. I have Leica M6 and Leica R6.2 with 15 Leica lenses and the Fuji is as good. That4s a good sign. So Buy one and be happy.
