Thank you all for your generous input. As i see many photographers use more than one kind of software.
I have to agree that Adobe products are more convienient to use that Nikon Capture Nx . Do you have any idea if Raw conversion in PS CS5 produces lower noise jpegs than PS CS3 ?

Hi.
Recently , after long time using adobe PS3 to convert my NEF files to jpeg , i decided to test Nikon Capture NX 2 . I was surprised how my jpeg images looked converted without any corrections from raw files. I mean the level of noise on images from Capture Nx2 is visibly lower than Adobe's jpegs. Which seems to be great news for me as i have Nikon D200 - great body , but not so great sensor.
My question for more experienced photo-net members is :
1. Why there is so big difference in size of jpeg images ? For example : 15,6 Mb NEF file after conversion in CS3 gives 8,44 Mb jpeg , and after conversion in NX2 it is only 5,60Mb. I checked it on multiple images, there was no corrections applied in any of these two RAW converters. They both keep the same resolution of 3872x2592 . Cs3 was set to camera raw defaults settings. Nx2 was to save as excellent quality jpeg.
2. How come my ugly hot pixel shows up only on images converted with NX2 ??
I hope i made myself clear. Thanks in advance for the time to read this :)

Nikon d50 - absolutely best photo camera in terms of grip. Nothing suits better my palm( i completely do not understand Canon users).
But lately : D700 - i have no excuse for my bad pictures now.
