  1. The M, S and Cf button should be in S to equal the AF mode on your N4004. If want to reset the N6006 to default full auto mode you may press the DRIVE and MODE buttons simultaneously for about two seconds. Then the camera reverts all manual settings to auto. Also remember to set the aperture ring to its highest number.

You should also check if there is a small "DX" sign in the LCD display. If it is *not*: Press the small yellow button next to +/- button and the ISO button at the same time.

  2. Correction about using G-lenses (AF lenses without aperture collar) on the F-601: G-lenses are not compatible with F-601 at all, even in the P and S modes. I have tried this on my own F-601 and this is also

stated by Nikon. On the contrary G lenses *will* work in P and S modes on the F-601M.

  3. I got the same error message with a card from my D70 once. It turned

out to be that the camera had created a new folder on the card and an

there was two image files with the same name in these two folders. In

my instance one of the image files was empty while the other contained

an image. I deleted the zero-length picture and the download completed

succesfully. I have no idea why this happened, but I would suggest

that you check if two images have got the same filename.

  4. IMHO the auto white balance on the D70 is mostly useless. Blue sky

with green or yellow cast is the usual result. I set it manually to

"Flash" or "Cloudy". If want more vivid color set the image parameters

to "Vivid" in stead of "Normal".

  5. From the D70 manual, page 8: ("The Viewfinder Display")

"Owing to the characteristics of this type of viewfinder display,

you may notice fine lines radiating outwards from the selected focus

area, or that the display in the viewfinder turns red when the

selected focus area is highlighted. These phenomena are normal

and do not indicate a malfunction."

  6. The answer above is not correct. The N6006 does not transfer F-number,

focal length and ISO value to the flash. The F-number blinks to show

that you may use the arrow keys to select an aperture. If you press

the "SEL"-button you may set the ISO value. You have to use the zoom

button to set the focal length in use (if I use a zoom lens I set it

to the shortest focal length of the lens).

However it is worth to note that it is not required to set the ISO

and aperture value when using the TTL mode on the flash. The flash

output is entirely controlled from the camera, the only purpose of

these settings are to show the working range of the flash.
