1.
Thanks Tom

Rob,
Yes, I understand all that.
I should have been more clear, I was just curious if it was normal or if I should return it to Canon before my 3 month warranty was up. I'll admit it's kind of annoying as my old XS' viewfinder was clear as a bell. But I understand the 7D's viewfinder is considerably different and is much more advanced.

It looks like Tom answered the question, but thanks anyway.

How could the image in the viewfinder, which is directed there by a mirror, affect the image projected onto the sensor, which receives the light when the mirror (and shutter) move out of the way?

I don't know that's why I'm asking.
The image doesn't seem to be affected (carefull it's huge) http://www.ramidok.com/temp/planes/IMG_0694.JPG
But the image that comes through the eye piece definately has a grainy look to it.

 3.
I recently bought a refurbished 7D from Canon and I have a question about the viewfinder. Though it doesn't seem to affect image quality but when looking through the view finder (especially when I'm using my 55-250mm lens) it has almost a grainy look to it. Has anyone else noticed this on their camera?

 4.
Well I finally got around to buying a new battery, no luck it still does the same thing.

I think I'll use the $200 and put it towards a new camera instead of repairing. I'm thinking either a 60D or a 7D.

 5.
Well I messed around with it last night. Finally got it to power back on and I did manage to update the firmware. It seems to work a little better but if it goes into power save mode or if I shut it off I have to pop battery out before it will turn back on. I turned the power save mode off and I'll just have to pop the battery out and back in whenever I want to turn it on. Annoying for sure but it will work until I'm ready to get it repaired or upgrade.

 6.
Puppy Face - I understand the overhead it takes for stuff like that, I guess it was just a bit of sticker shock of the repairs being 50% of the price of a new camera body.
I'll try that out as well, thanks for the tips.

 7.
Rob - Yeah if they can give me a few bucks for my camera it might be worth it.
Arie - I'd have to buy a new one as I don't know anyone else that has a Canon like mine. But it's a good suggestion. Thank you.

 8.
Rob - I'm no stranger to electronics and I know they fail occasionally, but it's usually DOA or it lasts for a good while. I guess I'll have to give them a call, and see what they can do for me.
I'll have to give that a shot tonight if I can get it to turn on. Thanks for the info!

Charles - No, it's a new camera body (no lens) from a legit and very well known website (also the website I purchased my current camera and most of the computer parts that I've bought in the past) I'd post the link but I'm not sure on the rules regarding stores other than Adorama.

 9.
My problems started out by getting the Error 99 problem and evolved to where I would have to pop the battery out and try again. Well now it won't even turn on. And of course my warranty is up so Canon's service site said it would probably cost $210 to repair. Which is ridiculous because I found the just the camera body online for $389. So my question is do I give my business back to Canon and buy another camera from them, buy a used 40D or 50D or do I sell my lenses and switch to Nikon? (I don't have many just the 50 1.8 and the EF-S 55-250)

As you can imagine I'm a pretty annoyed, a $500 camera should last more that 1.5 years. Anyone have any luck with Canon making things right in situations like this? Such as them giving discounts on gear or anything like that? Or are they going to take my money for the repair and tell me to pound sand?

Thoughts?
