I noticed that my on my MacBook the colors are fine, but on my external analog monitor the colors are a bit off. So I would like to adjust the setting of both the monitor and colorsync on the Mac to they are consistent.

Hi Everyone,
I would like to calibrate my monitors for web output and general use. My prints come out good and I am happy with them and don't want to buy any additional hardware.
That said, assume that a Coke and Pepsi can both have a specific color, now other house hold band names also have a color, just like in some packaging and news papers one can see the color proofs.
Now if I had these, how can I get the color parameters and using Photoshop dial in the numbers to get the color on my screen and then adjust the contrast and brightness to that?
Has anyone used this approach to calibrating a monitor for general use? I have a MacBook with an external analog monitor.

With all the political instability going on in Thailand, I'd bet that there will be no new products from Nikon this year unless they manage to move production to China or back to Japan. This also explains the price increase and inventory shortage of Nikon gear.
As for the kit, use your existing camera, get the full-frame lenses one-by-one. If you get a bug jumbo package you'll be lost and won't learn the features and sweet spots of all the gear.

Just a thought... (the samples are offline, so I can't do this myself)
If the EXIF data has the serial number of the camera, you can lookup if this was sold on ebay (if a seller listed it) or even ask Sigma if this camera was RMA'ed recently.
That is if you want to dig deeper.

The Leica M9 uses a sensor from Kodak, don't know much else about the company but if they can make a full frame sensor and a brand like Leica is willing to use it, then I guess they know a thing or two about digital.

On the other hand, I remember as a kid seeing Kodak everywhere and still when I travel see Kodak ads in tobacco stores, I would guess kids now days won't know what that company makes or what they are selling.

Thanks for you input and advice, I'll play around with ideas before getting some nicer speed lights.
Just wondering, how much light a SB-600 have compared to a 100 watt bulb? Is there a standard to measure light intensity?

I'm looking for tips on practicing and trying out new techniques and methods during the dark winter nights. Currently I have a new D90 with a 50mm 1.4 and a 18-55. I feel that I have a good understanding of most of the settings and styles, but would like to ask the forum what else can I photograph as a challenge or setups to try out.

Idealy I would like to go out and buy a SB-600, but currently my budget is minimal, so I would like to ask for ideas that can be built with a minimal budget.

So far I have tried photographing a watch and other small items. I used paper and two desk lamps to build a small light box, also found that a small mirror in front of the built-in flash, at 45%, can be used as a simple "bounce flash" with quite good results.

This challenge is practice before spring, and also a way to master and further develop styles. What items are a challenge to photograph, and what light solutions would you employ?

Why don't you post some photos and ask for tips to improve them?

Besides what are you trying to photograph? A good place to start is to try to take a studio photo of a watch, once you figure out how to get all the settings right - ideal - then you can move on to people, sports and nature.

The roads are no problem. You won't need an SUV, and a smaller call will be better as some of the roads are quite narrow. If your in for adventure, get a sport convertible and enjoy zipping around :) Watch out the for the bikers as Italians love these roads too.
For maps, get an Italian map (Touring Club are great), I made the mistake and got one in Germany, the towns had German names and had to use a dictionary with the road signs. Better yet, use a navigation system.

For longer than a few days I take my Macbook, otherwise just my ipod touch with offline maps and wikipedia offline edition (great for looking up some town or info). As always weight is the problem, so light is better and the ipod touch is great for light work.

D90 Battery grip pinout
in Nikon
Posted

Hi,
I'm looking to make a interval meter based on the Zeikos D80/90 battery grip mount for the D90. My idea is to drag two cables from the top connector to a small controller that will trigger a shutter release (close the circuit).

My question, does anyone know the pinout of the battery grip? If that fails, I was thinking of using the IR remote and hacking that.
Thanks!
