1.
John It was windy as heck and I was shooting long exp. Is it out of focus maybe as I am vision impaired and I have to let the camera do the best it can. Also this was my first try at hdr so there are 7 images here if that can cause that. But to the part of asking online for price ranges I dont want to set a trend and drive prices down. So weddings are 600 dollars because people buy a camera and shoot snapshots and photographers are 2000 and up and going broke but do better work . So if I hit a sore spot well get over it.

 2.
Hello I have been out taking night time pictures and have posted one of these on my facebook page. I received a message from an owner of this restaurant that he would like to buy the rights to this picture. I do this as a hobby but I would like to maybe sell it. First off I dont want to underprice it as to that just hurts the professional photographers out there. And when you sell the rights to it just what does that mean? As in can I keep mine up on my page and can I print it for my use? What would be a reasonable price for this type of request. Thanks Robert

00ZtTu-434953584.jpg.a6f91d14d967cf49a4fdd9344e1c9d26.jpg

 3.
I have the 7d, 5d, and the 5dmii and by far my favorite is the 5dmii. The high iso is so much better in the mii version but my least favorite is the 7d I only have it for the faster focus. I did 2 shots in the dark with just a little light on tripod at 3200 and 6400 iso of a boat at the marina around midnight and its hard to tell the differance. They are in my gallery if you want a comparison. That in itself is a full stop and add the 1.8 you will have a faster shot in my opinion.

 4.
Thanks to all who replied. And to John I do like to shoot wildlife also thats why the 400 is in the discussion here. my 70-200 with a tele converter just doesnt give the quality that I want. Wood tripods look nice but carbon should be the lightest. I will read the post from J Harrington to see what is in that article. Thanks again

 5.
Hello all I am looking to upgrade my tripod. I started out with a Sun Pack tripod and a 30d kit and now that I have upgraded my camera to the 5dmii and lens to the L series 2.8 and faster, the time has come to invest in a good tripod to get my shots as sharp as I can. I like night landscape shooting at 8sec or longer and with the bigger lens and the wind in South Texas they are blurry from shake.
There are so many brands out there and different styles I just dont know where to start. I do hope to get a 400mm f2.8L soon so a tripod and ball head needs to be strong enough to hold a substantial amount. Carbon fiber if its better would be good but just dont want to look back and wished I had spent a little more. Any help would be nice. Thanks for all your help. Robert

 6.
Hi to all. i have a picture that I want to enlarge to a poster size print. When I take the full size picture from a Canon 5d2 and go into photoshop cs5 and do image size and tell it 24x36 I get a huge file. Now all 3 check boxes are on also. Now I tred to upload it to Adorapix and they have a 60mb limit. do I have to throw away pixels or do I not resize at all. Thanks for your help

 7.
For those who want to see it in a larger size I have put both the 3200 iso and the 6400 in my gallery they are nearly full screen and for the most part un modified with the exception of sharpening and text overlay. What will tomorrows technology bring us? And to think I was happy with my 30d as it was good in its time.

 8.
Last Night I went out to shoot some night shots but the wind was about 20 mph. I was using a tripod and shooting boats and colorful buildings. I noticed that the boat was blurry so I checked the focus in live view zoomed in and retook the picture. Same thing blurry thats when it hit me the boats are slightly moving. And shooting at 400 iso I was getting 20+ second shots as it was really dark. So I jumped the iso up to a thousand then 2k and then I thought it would start to fall off in picture quality but lets just see what noise looks like. So I shot at 3200 and then for the fun of it 6400. Now for my question can someone tell me where the noise is I thought it would be obvious but to me its not even at 6400. I am attaching the picture as I am happy with the results for a beginner. Thanks for your help. 9.
Hi I have a question about ND filters are they pretty much the same and some have I/R with it. do we need the I/R as those are much higher in price. If so what does the I/R do for a picture. I currently have some b&w UV 77mm filters and I cant really see much difference with or without them. Maybe I dont know what I am looking for also. Thanks for your time Bobby

 10.
Well I am new too and have been following this I a wanting to print the same size but from a raw files from canon 5dmii. And not to start a new thread when this should be about the same thing, where can you find a lab that does this kind of work? Any suggestions I have never sent any thing out before for print. Sorry didnt want to steal Stan thread just thought I would ask.

 11.
I want to thank all of you who gave me this help. That is why I am here. I have a long way to go but I am learning a lot from these answers that you all have given me. I do not have photoshop yet but have been on lynda training web site learning before I invest to make shure I get what I need. The terms HCR is new to me and also ACR so I would tend to think that this is a photoshop term. For now I just use the software that came with the camera DPP theres my three letters. I would tend to guess photoshop is the way to go or atleast the way most people go? Or do i need to look at other software. Camera raw, light room, photoshop or all? Thanks again because my wife just doesnt get it why I like and spend so much time and effort trying to take the same picture working to get it right. Where as every one here does thats why we are here. Bobby

 12.
I did this around 2am because that is about the only time the wind will lay down to get the reflections that I was seeing. I did shot in raw at 125 iso on tripod for a 10 sec, 24-70 L @f8 with a 5dmii. I never thought about bracketing but will try it and see what happens. This is straight out of the camera and converted to jpeg. Thanks

 13.
Hi every one I have been playing with night photography and I can not seem to find a way to expose the signs right without all other things being turned to black. Maybe a neutral density filter? Take a look if you dont mind and maybe let me know what I can do. I am just learning and am stuck without taking two pictures and blending them together just to get it right. I would rather learn to do it in one picture than to cheat and use two.thanks for all who can help me. Bobby

 14.
Thanks for your help I have been reading strobist 101 and picked up a couple books lots to try to digest. There is a lot more to the flash than a burst of light so I will continue to read and come back and ask the questions I just cant figure out. Thanks for the help Bobby

 15.
Hi everyone I was looking to purchase maybe a pair of umbrella`s. My pictures look flat and boring. I am a beginner for the past 30 years but now I want to step up a notch and apply some much needed light. I shoot a Canon 5dmii and have a prime 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.2L, 24-70mm 2.8L. I also have a 580 exii flash and the remote trigger for it. Now I looked at Adorama and they have 29 pages of umbrella`s I dont mind buying another speed lite so I am not tied to an outlet. Is that the way I should go and if so another 580 or the 430ex? Then which umbrella I want a good sturdy one but there are too many and dont know anything about them. I will be shooting my wife and kids. Gold, silver, shoot through, white with black just dont know where to start. Thanks in advanced for all of your help. Bobby

 16.
Very good thanks to all as I didnt realize there was a 2x3 ratio. I dont know why that is but I am sure some where there is a reason. Someone as me would think what you see is what you get. And prior enlargements I didnt notice because what I lost wasnt of any value so I never picked up on that. Now I will pay attention to the aspect ratio and give a little room when framing. Lesson learned today Thanks Bobby

 17.
Hello all. My question is this I posted a question last week about the 5d mII vrs the 1d mIV and with the help of all of you who posted I have chosen the full frame 5d MII. I have been shooting a 30d with a crop sensor and when I wold do a close up of something and the enlarge it Part of my picture would go off the print. Of course I did not know this at the time I took the picture, I framed the picture up full and found out later the hard way. Now that I have purchased the full frame will that still be an issue? I shoot just for the enjoyment of seeing just what I can do and learn. and have been doing that since my AE1 back in the 70s. Never noticed that then maybe it was there but just never framed the picture so tight back with film. I should get my 5d next week and was just wondering so I can be prepared on what to expect. Thanks to all who respond. Bobby Grant

 18.
To Scott what is it you dont like about the H sensor? For me a 7d is out of the question only because with the 24-70 on and the widest zoomed in I find myself still backing up trying to get every thing in the picture. For what pictures I do take is wildlife, sons basketball games, drag racing all of this is for my personal use. The studio work would not be a problem as I could raise the lites focus and then dim the lights and my subjects dont dart from one side to the other. The real answer would be both I am sure but as for now maybe the 1d mIII but I heard they had a problem with the focus problem or has that been resolved? Thanks for all your inputs. BG

 19.
Thanks everyone for you help. The lens that I have are the 50 f1.2 24-70 2.8, 85 1.2, and 70-200 2.8 is. And as far as the sensor size aps-h or full dont know if thats a big deal or not. I do know that they are both awsome in there own ways. Thanks again. BG

 21.
Ok bear with me as I have never posted here before but I am looking for a camera the will focus in low light. I know the 5d II is a little slower than the 1D IV but it is full frame. I do like to shoot moving subjects and sun rises so I am at a toss up. The video is of no concern to me. Of course if the 1d would have been a full frame Thats the one I would get, but its not so will I be losing much besides twice the money by not getting a full frame. They both have great ratings. I now shoot with a 30d and it just will not focus in low light in auto focus and I just cannot see well enough to do it in manual. Thanks for your help BG
