  1. Thanks for your kind comments. I never saw myself as a people-pic photog but enjoyed doing landscapes first.

All of the people pictures have a story behind them. The one of the woman in the flowered dress has its own story behind it as well.

The background is real and was a moment during an event I was hired to shoot. The room was probably 20x30 with a 9-10 ft ceiling., i used full power on the strobe to get the lighting I wanted. I tried the medium setting to get more images on the card with my canon D60.

As for flash, i used an index card on a flash and bounced it off the ceiling. I used the aperture to control lighting due to distance.

I like capturing people as they are and dislike folks cheesing it up for the camera.

Used to work for a paper but they were taken aback by the people pictures that showed folks as they were. Disagreements over matters made me leave the publication. This was one image they bought from me.

The shot was done under TV lights and we have to under expose to get a faster shutter speed....was not into digital at the time and was shot on film. It was a one-frame/ one-shot situation and I was lucky to catch his reaction.

I was watching the VA Union Coach from photographers row and shot this of him going nuts on the sidelines. It was a quick focus/shot because I run manual focus and trying to keep up with game action at the same time.

This was from my first basketball tournament ever, a Div II NCAA event.

I had underexposed the film intentionally to use a faster shutter speed in the arena. Also, was adjusted in photoshop to pick up the detail in his suit so I chose to flatten it out a bit. Also, I was watching his emotion for a few minutes and waited for the right moment.

Someone mentioned a wider shot to see what was going on along with his emotions. Would have made the shot too busy.

I would like a critique of my photo. I was sent to cover a track meet

in July and shot this with an ancient Nikon F and a 300mm 4.5 Nikkor-

    H.

This was full frame and a one-shot opportunity. I had no motor drive,

rarely use one in sports and I had learned it that way, but hoped for

this situation once the race started.
