1.
I have used both the 5D2 and 1Ds3 bodies extensively, as they are both my main cameras... The 5D2 actually had a much more reliable AF system when it comes to static subjects, using the center point only... As people have said before, if you use anything other than the center on the 5D2, results are very inconsistent...
The 1Ds3 still has an edge with it's AI servo and slightly faster acquisition in low light, but not not by a large margin...

The 5D2 is very very underrated in the AF department. I still think it's the best overall camera for the money out there in any brand...

 2.
Thanks, everyone!
the 2nd part should be up by the weekend.

Joseph, what you say about the petal hood makes sense now that I think about it. I'm not much of an artisan, so I doubt I'll be making one. I've seen that flare-buster before. Right now, I'm just gonna use my hand when I have to..

 3.
Hi, everyone!

I got ahold of the 17mm TS-E a few weeks ago, and recently, I got around to doing some tests and did a thorough write-up on the lens (mostly regarding using it as a 17mm prime w/out tilt or shift)
I compare it in sharpness tests to the 17-40 L
check it out if you get the chance, and let me know what you think. (part 2 will be up next week and have a look at the tilt/shift functions)

thanks for looking :)
