1.
I wasn't going to use it on camera, but then I realize it wouldn't work as an off camera either, so trash can here it comes! I am getting a module for my Canon 580EXII so I can still use the battery. I have several speedlites so I didn't really need that one I was just curious other than the trash if it had any use.

 2.
While cleaning out our garage I found an Achiever flash and Quantum Bantum battery with it. I sent the battery in for updating and it works! I guess I can use it for off flash? I have a Canon 50D. I know I owned a Canon SLR 35yrs or so ago when I most likely bought it. Does anybody remember them? I do own Canon flashes also.

 3.
I would love to take my camera all the time. I can not trust anything less than my 50D. I put some of my confidence in it's features. The lag time in the other style cameras frustrate me. Alas my husband and family do not understand that and so many opportunities were lost. So I will take pictures at my home of everything from flowers to figurines etc.

 4.
For me it was just there. The first time I took in a roll of film to a local photography store the owners complimented me on my composition, I didn't even know what it was. I do now. I did and still do take lots of pictures. The biggest difference now it's a lot cheaper! Now don't ask me about the mathmatical eqations related to lighting.... I just read, watch cd's and Kelby training. If they use the math I just smile and do it! Also when I started I had to start at the low end of the 35mm and flash but I had fun and even shot weddings without all the "stuff" I have now and they were "good" then, not too bad now when I look at them but learning about the soft lighting now. It is a big difference. So my pictures didn't have the quality lighting back then and I am just into learning studio continuous lighting. So much to learn!

 5.
Hey all :) It was interesting to see such responses. I feel this will be a good place for honest critique and information. I will eventually move to some of the other forums here. I didn't realize how much I sounded like I don't appreciate my equipment. I do, I was just startled at how bad it sounded. I am still in a constant learning process and can see that there is much to learn. I like the last post... now that's a good idea! :)

 6.
Being happy with the 40D wasn't the issue, it was damaged and with the insurance I had when I sent it in to be repaired it wasn't cost effective so they gave me what was available, which was the 50D.

00UxqN-188717584.jpg.ee3db9f1da875bacc5368a04629388df.jpg

 7.
I want to thank all who responded so far. I don't feel as bad about my camera. Most gave encouagement and insight, .Thank you. I am now glad that I found this site. I hope after my initial post you will not label me. I am anxious to learn and to share.

 8.
What did I do wrong? The more I read the lower my heart sinks. I got my 50D as a repair replacement for my 40D. So far all the posts I have read give no kudos to the 50D. I do have some high end glass, not a lot, and some all around zoom lenses, all are IS except the 50mm 1:4. Is it all that bad?
