1.
Thanks. I should have figured that, but wanted to make sure. So it is all a guessing game with exposure, shutter speed, etc.?

To gain as much control as possible, would you recommend shooting on shutter priority so one at least knows how that is set?

Thanks.
2. I just picked up a Rainbow Imaging adapter and am trying to use my 1.2L 50mm FD Lens with it. When ai turn the aperture Di g on the

lens the viewfinder gets brighter and darker but the aperture reading in the viewfinder says 0.0. Should it specify the aperture I am using

    via the lens setting? Thanks.

  3.
I would think that if I paid a good price for Canon's aspherical FD lenses, that filters would detract from image quality. I am not seeing that concern raised in your responses.

So should I gather that image quality is not discernibly degraded using filters? I put in an order with Adorama today for a bunch of Hoya and B & W filters, all multi-coated clear glass. Some were used in excellent + condition, so the prices weren't too bad. Still a $100 investment for five filters!

Should I try not to use them if I am taking important shots?

Thanks.

  4. Hi,

I just bought a few high quality lenses for Canon FD, namely the 50 and 85mm 1.2L's. I am considering purchasing a filter solely to

protect the lens. Will image quality be diminished with a lens filter? Will flare become a problem? Am I better off just trying to be careful

    and not use any filter?

If I apt for a filter solely for protection, which brands and models are recommended?

    Thanks.

  5. Checked eBay for Superia 100. Several deals were from an outfit in Culver City selling rolls with no expiration date. They

were very inexpensive compared to an authorized Fuji dealer which charged $15 for one roll of 36 exposures. Which

source do you recommend for best deal on Superia 100?

    Thanks.

  6.
Thanks for the comments. So if I am only interested in scanning the photos to a disc, and not printing on photo paper or getting back slides, what is the drill? Still shoot on slide film, print film, or what? Thanks again for your patience with these newbie questions!

  7.
Thanks for the responses. Questions about film. Assuming there's plenty of light and I don't plan on printing photos but only want them scanned onto a disk for editing and viewing on a computer, what film do you all recommend for a less "grainy" look and best image quality?
Thanks again.
8.
It was 400 speed Tri-X. I was using the program mode. It was late this afternoon. My recollection is the shutter speed was around 1/90th and the aperture probably 5.6 or so. Not sure as I was shooting with a 28mm 2.8 FD and a 70-210 FD zoom.
I have the negative but I have not reviewed it as I don't have the equipment to do so from home.
The file size was 1.11MB and the pixel size 1800 × 1215 (2.2 MP). This is very small. What do you think?

  9.
Help! I bought a T-90 and shot my first roll of film. I had it developed at Walgreens. I think it's in focus but it is very grainy. The resolution says 2.2 MP, I believe. Can someone critique the photo? Is the image quality poor due to low resolution of the scanning by Walgreens? Is it typical that the photo would be processed to such a small pixel size? Your assistance is most appreciated as I am quite discouraged by my first attempt. I'm just not sure if it is the camera, the lens, the photographer, or Walgreens low image processing quality?

Thanks.
Robert

  10.
Hi,
I received this camera today via purchase on eBay. The camera was represented to be freshly overhauled and working perfectly. It does seem perfect both mechanically and cosmetically (although I haven't had any film developed yet), except the inside of the viewfinder appears to have a small blotch of "bleeding" on the right side in the yellow vertical rectangle where the meter needle is located.
It is just a small circle, but is a bit distracting when you look through the viewfinder.
Would this have been corrected in an overhaul? Should it have been? Can it be?
I paid top dollar for the camera, I think ($195) on the basis of its represented condition.
Your thoughts are appreciated.
Thanks.
11. Hi,

I just received this camera today. The shutter speed dial does not notch between each stop when turning the wheel. I assume this is

defective. Should I return the camera or get it fixed? How much would a repair and overhaul like this cost? I only paid $40 for the camera

but obviously I am not pleased as the seller said it was in excellent mechanical condition. Thanks for your thoughts.

  12. Hi all,

I am new to the forum. I just purchased a Kodak Retina, Canon QL17 Giii, Konica S2 and S1.6 range finders and a few others.

Can anyone recommend a good shop in the Chicago area to get them cleaned and in good shape?

    Thanks much

    Robert
