Thanks, guys. I'll do as you suggest.
Still, I'd like to know if anybody has any experience with the Adorama i-TTL cable. Its price is interesting so I consider buying it instead of the SC-17/28 cable...

Hello,
I have a D80, SB-800 and a flash bracket which operates like the Stroboframe
Camera Flip Flash Bracket. I'd like to mount it all together but I wonder how to
connect the flash with the camera. An SC-17/28 cable is the obvious choice, of
course. What puzzles me is that it seems (I base my opinion on pictures - I
haven't seen the cable personally) the only male shoe mount of this cable is the
one which is attached to the camera. The other end of the cable has only a
female shoe mount and a tripod screw socket at the bottom. But my flash bracket
has also a female shoe mount, so I can't see a way to mount the flash.
I found something like this: http://www.adorama.com/FAOCSCNK.html. Is it any
good? Anybody used it?
Or maybe I should combine the SC-28 and SC-26 and then plug the SC-26 into the
Sb-800 socket?
TIA

Hi all,
Got a headache after switching from the F90x to the D70. My problem is
how to set the flash properly when shooting both indoors and outdoors.
I liked the "3D Multi-Segment" because it was easy to set and, after
years of presence on the market, well known to photographers. I knew
it always worked as fill flash and therefore when shooting indoors
with the flash (SB-26 - in my case) being a main source of lighting, a
little of positive compensation (+0,3EV) was needed. OTOH when
shooting outdoors the negative compensation of -1,7EV (Galen Rowell's
Magic Number) was my
permanent setting as I used fill flash very often. All these settings
provided excellent results which was very important for me as I'm a
wedding photographer. Flash exposure was perfect no matter whether the
main subject was dressed in black or white or was positioned in the
center of a frame or off-center. Some minor errors was compensated by
a very forgiving and excellent NPH400 (exposed @ ISO320). All in all,
it was the Nikon's flash metering that made me stay in the Nikon camp
after switching from Pentax to Canon and then from Canon to Minolta.

And now the point...

How should I set my flash both when I shoot outdoors and need fill
flash and when I shoot indoors and my flash is the main source of the
lighting (pointed directly @ the subject or bounced off the ceiling)?
Do the mentioned compensation values (+0,3EV and -1,7EV respectively)
apply in case of the i-TTL?
And another question - why the EV Lock? Canon cameras need it because
they bias their metering towards an active AF sensor... but Nikon
never did it and I've never missed the EV Lock when using the
F90x+SB-26. So is it really necessary?
Thanks in advance...
