  1. I was recently in Kenya, shooting chrome on my Bronica ETRS. A few days in, my incident meter broke, so it was 'sunny f/16' thereafter. Not ideal. Far from a fixed rule, sunny f/16 is a guide, which works better the more experience you have. I'd say 90% of what I shot was correctly exposed- but I'd also say the knowledge that I was guessing exposure made me hold back or overbracket in certain situations. I think sunny f/16 is useful because it makes me think of exposure as a range of values I can choose from (i.e. expose for highlight or shadow detail) rather than an absolute 'magic number' imposed by a gadget. But I wasn't long in getting myself a new incident meter though. Having an empirical value to begin your creative guesswork from certainly helps.
  2. I bought a series E 35mm 2.5 about six weeks ago, I spent 60 pounds. I

agree, the bokeh is pretty cool, also, it focusses very close (30cm). It's the only

lens I use at present, for photojournalism (environmental portraits mainly) and

the glorious swiss landscape. P.S. It got a ding the other day, and now the

focussing is a bit stiff- does anyone know if this is fixable, and will it cost more

    than the lens?
