@Martin: I know. So I do.
You can put the CD into the computer or you must install the Canon-suite.
The updater do not work on my MacBook pro. Then I have booting the system from an external drive and now the updater runs.
And on my new MacMini they work.
Now I get a new harddisc and i hope this will solve the problem. But i'm afraid that this will not. I Think that canon has a great quality problem with their products!

@Angel
on my new MacBook pro the Updater from canon Hompage do not run.
The EOS Utility Software can not only transfer the files, but it can handle your cam from computer. But I have the problem with installing the updater. They do not run on my Mac.

I wonder. @Puppy Face has a MacBook 13" and there the screen is in lower quality than the 15" MBP and I had a 24" LED Screen on the system. I think, its a quality problem with Canon Software.

I have the problem too on my new Mac Book pro 15", 2,66MHz.
I can install the software from the CD, but not the Updater from Canon Homepage. But when I'm booting the system from an ext. Drive, I can install the Updater.
And I can install the Updater on my new MacMini
Where is the difference? I can not understand.
Now Apple will change the Harddisc. But I'm afraid that this do not solve the problem, We will see!

but the numbering will end to 9999, the it stats with 0001.
If you know, in witch sequence you are, you know how many shoots you have done.

take FullFrame Lenses. These lenses you can put on Your cam. If you will upgrade to Fullframe Cam, you can not use the crop lenses.

-

And now You need the new 1D Mk IV
and the 400 mm f/2.8
and Mac pro with 16GB RAM an Aperture 3 and PS 4 and the best printer you get.

-

if you do not change parameters on yor cam, the cam counts all your shots and so you can allways see, how many shots you have done. :-)

I had the same problem. It was the shutter.

I would prefer to get a 200-400mm
They must built lens families.
16-35 mm
24-70 mm
70-200 mm
200-400 mm ?
and not 100-400 mm this overlaped too much with the lens obove and the f is not good.

I bought a Canon 40d last year.

I switched to MAC and have a MBP under OS X 10.6.1
Now I have problems with Download the Updates.
info says "problem with Updater" and the process stopped. So I can not use DPP, EOS utility etc. (The software can be installed from CD, but not the updates!)

@Puppy Face
I had the highest resolution.
And I could install from ext. HD, from which I booted the system.
I think, Canon has no good software
